Hi,

I read somewhere that persians can have sinus problems due to their flat face, which can cause sneezing, but if you wanna be on the safe side, watch it and see if it gets any worse or just take to vet in case.

Hi,

Also it might be a URI which you need to get to a vet immediately to get him on antibiodics.

There are a couple persians I know that sneeze a lot... but these poor cats have almost no noses to speak of and the hair around seems to stick their noses a bit. ;_;

My papered Van Winkle is now 9 yrs old. He is gorgeous and yes, he has sneezing fits often. It clears his tint nostrils and is quite necessary. He has lost some teeth by now and he is on nothing but Royal Canin foods since day one. He does have a common Herpes thus eye problems but I use Veteracyne opthalmic jell to place in and around his effected eye or eyes and I wipe the little extra so as to allow the jell to stay in the eye as long as possible. It works like a dream after only 3days of 2x daily application. Found this by accident as I used it frequently for my horses.

I do wipe his face with warm tissue every day in am and after eating. And I gently squeeze his nose as he actually looks for it too. Eating is tough for persians as they get the crumbs and or soft foods in their nose trying to eat. I do raise his dish up to shoulder level and also have a little oil dipping dish with a rim around the side to keep it from spreading out too much. I do still feed him with a small spoon as I can pile it up for him to grab with his flat mouth easier. So far, all these years, he is great.  I will post a photo later of him. Enjoy your forever baby.

Is your persian a show or doll face? http://cats.lovetoknow.com/cat-breeds/doll-face-persian-kittens  The reason I'm asking is because this could possibly have something to do with the sneezing also.  Our last persian boy who we rescued was a show and the persian we adopted last year is a doll face, the former did sneeze more than the latter.  However, neither were sick.  As PattyBrown59 pointed out it helps to have a bowl that does not have high edges for them to eat, a saucer works great too.  And most persians need daily eye care/cleaning - I simply use warm water for this. However, if you have any concerns always check with your vet.
