A week ago my senior cat OX stopped eating dry cat food. He was just wolfing down the moist food. I had him at the vet end of August for yearly checkup and my vet said he is in really good shape for being almost 16 yrs old-esp his teeth!!
I did have alot of samples of dry food I picked up a couple of weeks ago.
I opened Felidea (sorry spelling). He ate that sample pack in a couple of days.
I now opened a packet of Fromms salmon and while not as enthused as the other he is eating it too.
With both of these food types I noticed are alot smaller that the Nutro Natural that the others are eating.
I'm wondering if that is why he is not eating the other food???
Has anyone else noticed this with their older cats???

Yes, I've had that happen with Felixia - she can't eat those huge Nutro kibbles because she doesn't have many teeth (she only has one molar left). It's frustrating, because Nutro is supposed to be a good food & is easy to find - I don't know why they make those kibbles so huge.

She can eat smaller kibble just fine, though - she does well on the Royal Canin dry food. I also give her canned, because it seems to help keep her from getting constipated, and helps prevent hairballs.

Perhaps you could try breaking up the Nutro kibble into smaller pieces for him, to see if he can eat it that way?

Nutro has made the kibble a lot smaller. My cats didn't mind one way or the other. If your store still has the older bags, look for the ones with a blue "ribbon" on the front that says "new smaller kibble" on it.

Spot stopped eating most kibble a while back, so I started wetting it with water or CatSip (he loves that stuff!) to make it softer for him. That has helped a lot, though he alternates between eating the kibble and preferring wet food.
