Eye Discharge on 5 week old kitten

Hi. My 5 week old kitten seems to end up with eye discharge in the corners of both of it's eyes everyday. I began taking a wet and dry cutip and first wiping it away with the wet followed by the dry. On the cat's eyes it looks rather black/brown and crusty but on the cutip it looks slightly red/orange and a little black/brown. I'm thinking it might just be because the kitten is so young and was living outside and was just recently brought into my home. It's acting completely healthy and eating and defacating well. I see no problems with it other than the crust eyes. Any ideas? Thank you!

I was told by a vet that a little bit of discharge is normal, but if you are worried give the vet a call and ask for some advice. Better to be safe than sorry!
