Can anyone tell me what is normal for a female cat? How many times during the day should she urinate?
I think I am getting a litle paranoic since she had cystitis back in March and last week again.
Now she seems to be under control but I would like to see her using the litter box more often. She is using it twice a day. Is this OK?
She is 5 yrs old, spayed, an indoor cat and the love of my life.

is twice a day is consisitant it may be her thing of normal ... I have one the does twice a day and one that goes five or more ...

I would throw out your old litter pan and give her a brand new one- she could be holding out because sometimes they blame the pan for giving them pain and avoid it as much as possible.

Thank you. I thought of that and just yesterday purchased a new litter box for her. She used it during the night so I guess she liked it and felt pretty comfortable with the change

Check with your vet and see what should be normal for her with her existing problem. I personally think it is perfectly normal for her to urinate twice a day.My ChiChi is 16+ and she urinated about 3 or 4 times a day, she also eats wet canned food which contains more water, so if your kitty also eats wet food this could contribute, but even if she doesnt, I would'nt worry its not out of the ordinary.

Guess what is normal is really up to the individual kitty!!

My Loki goes abt. 2 times a day
My moms girl Piper also abt. 2 times per day
My moms girl Cookie abt. 3 times per day

Thank you. I feel better now. She is going twice a day.
Hopefully she will continue after the medicatin stops. she has 2 1/2 more days of antibiotic
