I am 14 weeks old today and I just killed my 1st rat. I am so proud of myself. Mama has taught me well and she says that I will be a valuable member of the company now. We stopped at a village today to trade and repair things for the villagers because it is a small village and there many trades that are not present in such a small village as this. The Wainwright will be very busy for the next day or to as will the blacksmith and the sword and knife sharpener. There are many wagon wheels that have broken spokes for the wainwright to fix. The cooper has barrels to mend and the smith will be making horseshoes for the farrier to put on the horses of the local Lord. My Human man will sell some silk and spices to the Lord and perhaps to 1 or 2 others here if they have enough money or something of value to trade.

The woman mama and I live with will sell her herbs and will tell fortunes for the people of the village. She usually tells them good things will happen but sometimes she has to tell them some bad things because She doesnâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]t wish to lie to people. Her herbs do a lot of good for the locals but because of her gifts they are always a little afraid of her.

Our guards fended off an attack by a band of bandits just before we got here yesterday. These bandits were very poor and not very good at what they tried to do. 3 of them were killed and their weapons and gear was of the poorest quality. It looked like it had been a very lean winter for them. The Lord of the area paid 2 pieces of Roman silver for each of the dead bandits though because that means less troubles for him in the future. All in all it was a good stop to make. Our next stop, the Paris Fair. There will be a week of trading, selling and tournaments by the local Knights.

I need to kind of educate the Humans who might be reading these stories because this time is so different from anything they have ever known. In this age we are used to being able to go anywhere fast and get almost anything we need right now. In 1433 our company of merchants were really moving if we make 10 miles in a day. All of the clothes they wore were hand made, generally of wool and were pretty drab in color. We didnâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]t have coffee or tea. The food was whatever we found that day for the most part, running long on rabbits and squirrels and other small game. Most people didnâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]t have much in the way of teeth left by the time they were 30 year old. All of the grain was stone ground and that is hard on teeth. If they made it to 40 they were doing very well. One thing these people knew how to do though was live. They wandered a continent spreading the news and new ways of thinking throughout the lands the traveled in. They put on plays and sang and told stories. They fixed things and made things and traded and were a vital part of life in Medieval Europe, and in my 1st life I was a part of that.

Thanks for the support Katie. No not really a fan per se but "Drifter" will appear throughout a lot of historical places and times in future stories. I am something of a history buff and will incoprperate that into the stories. Any suggestions?

One of my favorite times in history is Paris in the 20's all those artists and authors still digesting WWI and knowing WWII is coming up on the horizon.
