Sage has this habit of sucking her tail when she curls up on the pillow at night. She purrs while she is doing it and doesn't get to sleep. I tried substituting stuffed animals, using bitter apple on her tail and nothing deters her.

Is this bad for her tail?

What would you recommend to help her stop?

I agree, it is not cute, and if not stopped it will continue until she sucks her tail hairs off and gets sores-

Try using lemon oil- the natural type balm- just be sure it is non-toxic

Everytime you see her doing it pull her tail out of her mouth eventually she will get bored of it and stop doing it.

That hasn't been working. She just moves away from me and lays down somewhere else to do it.

Hmm.. from your siggy, Sage looks like an adult. Has she been doing this since she was a wee kitten?
