Hey guys, I just joined... *looks at clock* about 2 mins ago. I got recommended here from someone from Dogomania.. and well.. I suppose a website called "the cat site" may help a little more for my rencent quandry.

We just got a new 2 month old female kitten (Nikki) today. We currently have two 12 yr old, nuetured male tom cats (Fritz and Schnickle), and a 2 year old English Springer Spaniel (Carson). Therefore, its been 12 years since we've had kittens in the house, meaning I was 3.

Soo.. I need a bit of a refresher course. I dont even remember how often they go to the litter box! Plus, this lil cutie has the equivalent of kennel cough in dogs, and is sneezing and drooling up a storm. In the past hour or so, she's been drooling and her nose is running A LOT.
LIke.. insane amounts of snot are dripping onto the floor.. and I'm getting worried. Since we gave her her mends, she's been a lil nervous, and laying under my bed, every once in awhile comming out to visit. Thats ok with me, we've had her for about 7 hours now, she should be nervous.

Soooooooooo....... Questions! When should I be worried and watching her like a hawk if she doesnt pee/poo? And.. she hasnt eaten since we got her (at 4pm), but then agian I'm not sure if they had fed her dinner before we picked her up.

Sorry for all the questions.. but help is greaaaaaaaaatly appreciated. Thank you!!

Sounds like she has an upper respiratory infection, she needs to see a vet, she should see a vet anyway, especially if you have other cats in the home.
She propably also needs to be wormed.
With a URI, she may not be able to properly smell her food which is why she won't eat.

And it's normal for new kitties to kinda lay low for a day or two as coming to a new home is pretty stressful.

Thats what its called!! Lol. The name forgot me, its an upper respiratory infection. The vet at the Humane Society saw her, and she's on meds for that. We have a scheduled vet appt for her on Wednesday.. that was the first open appt until then!
She's been wormed, gotten all of her shots (well all of the ones she should have by now), been tested for feline lukemia (wow I definately didnt spell that right..) and for feline aids.. or whatever they call it. The lady at the HS said it was AIDs, but right now it doesnt sound right...

Thanks for you rhelp!

Yes, it's commonly called feline AIDS.
Good glad to hear she's had a once over.

Try slightly warming some canned food to help it smell a bit more strongly, that may help her recognize it as food.

Until she has received a clean bill of health...I would keep her seperated from your other cats...just to be on the safe side so they don't end up getting sick as well.
