I don`t want a dog, cause they always seem to be on the wrong side of the door.....but it seems that cats are always standing IN the doorway...esp the bathroom doorway.....like they just can`t make up their minds whether they want to come in with you...or not....or is it just that they don`t want you to close the door and shut them out?
Is this just a "Cat thing"....or are mine the only ones that do this?

whenever i go to the bathroom Tab follows me in and sits down in front of me!
She saves her standing in the doorway trick for cold winter nights when she makes me stand by the back door in my pyjamas looking like an idiot.

It's always the way - If I'm in the bathroom, then Dax wants in too. She will sit curled up on the washing basket by the door watching me. She detests closed doors and goes and cries for the balcony door to be open and then she wont even go out there! Using the computer? - she wants to lay on they keyboard. Using the sofa? - get up for a drink and your seat is snagged.

It's called being owned by a cat.

It's simple really.
Cats don't believe in doors and think all doors should remain open at all times.
I have one that has learned to turn doorknobs and knock on doors to combat this.

Cats also believe that you need their supervisory expertise in all things, therefore, whatever it is you are doing, you are likely to have a cat scrutinzing your every move.

Before he was too traumatized to go outside, my kid brother's cat, Loki, would always stand in the doorway to go outside. He meowed and meowed until someone opened the door, and then he'd just stick his head out. Nudging him toward the outside generally resulted in him giving the 'human moron' look, and grabbing him, pulling him in and shutting the door resulted in him meowing for the door to be opened again. And it wasn't adequate for the screen door to be closed, and the glass door opened. He did the same thing with the screen.

My cat knew when she wanted to go out. None of the indecicive stuff for her.

And my current kittens don't get to go out.

I've never noticed a cat standing in the middle of an inside door, but I've never met a cat who can stand a closed door. They're smart enough to know that you're having fun behind them.

There is no such thing as a closed door to a cat, they must know what is behind it NOW!

And how dare you go to the toilet and not let them be involved??
Mine wants to see what I've deposited! I think he wants to compare!

LOL! Pushy sometimes runs in when he hears the flush. He stands there with his front paws on the toilet and his head goes round and round following the everything being flushed down!
Hmm... perhaps too much sharing here?

As for closed doors: Wiggies just keeps banging on it and meowing if he wants it opened, and there's not much that will deter him.
