I don't know a whole lot about flower essence treatment for stressed cats, I just know they are supposed to work.
My question is that if you look at poisonous plants for cats, Star of Bethlehem is listed, yet it's mentioned several times in flower essence remedys for cats. If anyone knows why it's poisonous but still used in the remedys, I would love to know.

My vet recommended Rescue Remedy for my cat's anxiety and stress. The vet said it was totally safe. The holistic vet agreed with this. And for us it was VERY EFFECTIVE.

You can get it at the health food store for about $15. I put one drop on kitty's tongue and 15 minutes later a 2nd drop. The difference was truly amazing. I've been told it doesn't work for all cats but for us it was great!

The scientist in me scoffed at the notion but I tried Rescue Remedy for situations when my kitty is stressed (vet trips, travel tho she is a good traveller but long distance and travel by plane with me to visit grandma is stressful for a small Siamese). It works like a charm! Best of all , where I live, it is available at a local grocer for about $10 Canadian (about $7 US)

In their raw plant form and if they have only been dried with no processing , yes they can be very harmful and may cause death.

Alot of poisonous and highly toxic herbs are used only for aroma therapy. When used for this purpose they can be safely used as a single herb.

If these same herbs are used as an absorbent or to ingest, they are combined with other herbs that have the ability to neutralize their toxic properties thus making them safe.

There are also different ways of processing these herbs such as 'cold press', 'cold presure', 'dry distillation' and reg distil just to name a few, which separates and purifies, and changes their chemical properties making them safe also.
