I have a 7 month old kitten. She is usually very obedient. by obedient i mean that she understands when I tell her "no" and she usually won't repeat the bad behavior. But I just moved into a new house and I have high upper cabinets along the wall in the kitchen. I have a huge problem with cats being on counter tops and kitchen tables so I don't allow my cats to go on them. however, in the new house, my cat now jumps on the counters constantly and then goes up to the top of the cabinets to sleep. I tell her no and I end up having to get up on the counters myself to get her down. how do i get her to stop?

It sounds as if she is actually being a good girl by not staying on the counter. Instead, she is using the counter as a stairway to a high sleeping spot. Because cats love to hang out in elevated places, this is a natural thing for her to do.

So...since it really isn't a sitting on the counter problem, but a stairway problem, you might want to provide her either (1) an alternate way to get to her elevated sleeping spot, or (2) a tall cat tree for her to hang out on instead.

Good luck!
