I have a 15 year old cat who eats normally if not more. but is also very skinny. You can feel its spine and bones more recently. I just don't get it. We'll be taking the cat in. It still acts normal and eats normally. Just loosing weight that is not normal. Any THoughts. or anybody here have this happen to you cat?

He could have a thyrod problem or Kidney Failure. I would take him to a vet for some blood tests.

Maybe he has some kind of parasite that is feeding on all the nutrients? I would definitely take him to a vet.

I would take him to the vet and ask for a Senior Panel to be run on him. I don't know where in Oregon you are, but Linn Benton Vet has a great clinic in Albany,

Yes - in my cat it turned out to be hyperthyroid, for which there are a few different possible treatments. If it's hyperthyroid, it would show up in the senior cat blood test workup.

There are also other possibilities, though - best to get a senior or 'geriatric' kitty workup, as the others have said.

We were planning on taking him to the vet. I just wanted to see if anybody else had the same situations with their cat(S)

It definitely sound like a possible thyroid issue. A blood test will tell you for sure. There are lots of treatment options, so if you have a hard to pill cat, ask your vet about transdermal meds. Spot, my hyperthyroid kitty, had it when I found him last year. Hyperthyroidism is very common in older cats.
