Well if they have no jobs/no money and are desperate enough to survive I guess they would do just about anything.

This happens here in the USA all the time where people go out and loot Native American graves looking for arrowheads, pottery, and other artifacts. There is a big market for the looters' findings which drives this shameless destruction of our American hertiage. And, the US American looters aren't poor folks trying to feed their families -- they are nothing more than theives. They should be deeply ashamed!

That is no excuse. Lets have some respect not only for the dead but for history as well

Well, it's not exactly new. It's why the pharaohs went to such extreme measures to hide their tombs. Which usually didn't work . Tutankhamen's tomb had been looted in the outer chamber, but apparently the thieves were interrupted in their task and high-tailed it out of there before they could get much or could make it to the much richer inner chambers. And this happened, oh, about 3,000 years or so ago ...

Recently, in UK, some animal rights protestors dug up the body of an old lady from a cemetery. She had been distantly related to a family that bred guinea pigs for scientific research. The family & workers had been subjected to a violent campaign to put them out of business.

Well, it has worked as they are giving up breeding the guinea pigs (what will happen to the pigs? No-one knows). And surprise, surprise, the protestors haven't returned the remains of the old lady. Talk about lack of respect - I don't like the idea of GPs being used in research but I think robbing a grave of the body is disgusting and completely out of order. And then, having won their 'battle', not to return the remains, it just shows how low these people have sunk.

We should respect our dead - human or animal, not steal from them.

Your kitties are precious! I love that middle picture!!

I guess our museums are filled with stolen grave goods- so this certainly isn't new. I just can't imagine having that much disrespect for the dead. I guess I'm a little too superstitious for that. I suppose an easy solution would be to supply the basic needs for these folks so that they wouldn't have to rob graves.
