Or only a weird behavior?

Our oldest snores... makes weird noises sometimes. Lately it has been a bit
better since she lost some weight.. she is 15 and arthritic..etc. Sometimes it is a high pitched squeal, others just a light grumble...it is rhythmic tho each breath. and it echoes thruout the room. Sometimes she wakes me up! sigh!!

The vet seemed unconcerned.

Any comments?

All mine snore, Ebony and Panter are the loudest!
Ebony likes to sit on the back of my chair when I am reading a book, I was reading a Steven King book "Pet Cemetary" all alone in the house really deep into the book when out of the blue Ebony let out a snore that scared the you know what out of me. I had to quit reading the book.

My Josie snores.
It seems to be when she sleeps in strange positions that are probably compressing her airway. It's a light snort and sometimes I have to turn one ear closer to it to make it out. She's a fairly quiet snorer.

I used to live with a nine-year-old cat who snored louder than any human I've ever known (and that's really saying something!). When people came to visit, he would hide under a chair in the living room (not wanting to be too far from his mom--he is such a mama's boy!) and then eventually fall asleep, at which point it would seem like the chair itself was snoring. Loudly.

My parents' seventeen-year-old cat also snores, although not nearly as loudly as the other cat I just mentioned. Her snoring has increased with her age (kind of like my grandparents, actually ...) but the vet says she's perfectly healthy (heart murmur and thyroid condition notwithstanding; she's an old cat!).

My own cats do not snore, but they have other ways of making noise at night while I'm trying to sleep ...

Gracie snores periodically and very loudly! It's funny because she's such a ladylike little cat otherwise.

Sheba is the first cat we ever had that snored this way. I had a guest this summer --our place is a high A-frame-- great acoustics..it is an open floor plan for 75% of the house.
And she could hear it easily --the way it echoed! everywhere in the house!
I don't notice after a while.

Sheba also gets her purr out of control...it becomes a pigeon coo-ing sound...if she purrs hard enough she can end up coughing!!!

Because of her pain issues, she has limited mobility.. and yes I bet her airway is pinched..that makes alot of sense.

I'll tell ya... I got one of those memory foam bed toppers, this summer because I have an "injury" that is slow to heal... and boy do the cats LOVE that!!!
Our youngest treads on it... it is so soft. Sheba snores less on it. Can't speak for myself tho
They should make cat beds out of that stuff.
If ours wears out etc (I've heard they do quickly) I will convert it into
cat beds!
