My 6 month old kitten bothers the two older cats, 7 & 8 years old, and they whine & hiss but don't fight back. This has been going on for 3-4 months. She will not change no matter what I do - squirt her with water, make loud noises, etc. Next step will be medication or new home. She has made our two oldest cats miserable and they don't even want to be in the house.

Your kitten sounds pretty normal. All most of them want to do at that age is play, play, play, and then play some more. A few ideas that might work are more interactive play time with you (try a cat dancer, laser pointer, or feather type toy), try getting a cat tower or a tunnel type toy for the kitten to amuse herself with, get another kitten so she has a playmate her own age and won't bother the older cats as much. Also, is the kitten spayed/neutered?

I feel bad for your kitten that you only mentioned negative ways of trying to stop her from being a normal kitten. I don't understand what she could possibly need medication for, doesn't sound like there's anything wrong with her!

Vicki she doesn't need medication or a new home sweetie!. She's playing and tormenting the other cats like all kittens do, also please don't squirt her with water or shout at her

Don't worry, as long as the other cats don't physically attack her she's ok, and by them hissing and growling at her their telling her whos boss!

Heres a picture of my Rosie going to give Sophie a bop on the head because she was tormenting her. But seriously, she doesn't need medication and they'll come round eventually to her.

Oh and is she spayed?

My 12 week kitten won't leave my 9 month old alone! He chases her around and attacks her all the time! She pretty much takes it but occassionally will give him a bat. So I also think it is pretty normal kitten behavior.

That is 110% normal behavior for a kitten of that age. Just like the others have told you. What you have on your hands is an adolescent with two middle aged cats. The adolescent is bored silly and is desperately trying to engage your other 2 cats in playtime.
Guess what? You need to step in and play with your 6 month old kitten. Play with her long and hard until she's tired....everyday. That way you make your kitten happy and the adult cats are happy because the kitten gives them a break.

Vicky, take it from me. Your kitten is totally normal and sounds just like my kitten Bailey with my older cats. It will all work out.

YEP!
Sounds JUST like my Missy Kitty (the older one) and my little KatyDid (KatyKitty!). Katy is a 6 month old Calico and she is such a little brat, but is SOOOOO much fun! Of course, Missy, thinks she is a TOTAL pain!
But, eventually, kittens usually calm down and then they just lie there (like Missy!
) and look bored! haha

Here's a picture of Missy who is reprimanding KatyKitty!

--And here is KatyKitty just getting ready to "Divebomb" Miss Missy, while she is fast asleep!!!!!

--Keep her busy, playing each evening, or whenever is a good time for you, and it should help quite a bit!
