Howdy folks! Like i mentioned on the other thread i got a new 3months old kitten yesterday evening which happens to be my first pet. She seems to adjusted at my place and is happily lapping up the food/water/milk. But since last almost 22 hrs, sinc i've got her at my place, she hasnt urinated neither has she pooped. Why so? Is it that her urine puddles are of molecular size hiding under the bed which my naked eye fails to see...or is this common...or theres some problem? Am really confused/worried....

It is quite usual they arent doing some time.

Cats at exhibitions usually do not either.

But of course you must watch out...

Write and tell us when she does.

Good luck!

Is she in a room with no carpet. Puddles would be easier to see. Hope all goes well with the little sweetie. Keep us posted.

Milk might not be a good idea. Lots of cats are lactose intolerant and you may end up with diarrhea!

Have fun with your new kitty!!

are you SURE your kitten is 3 months old? also I think Stefan is right, some kitties won't go during their first 24 yrs in a new environment.

Usually you dont, not if she is three months or even two months and healthy. But cat moms do it in the beginning.

Be prepared, but probably not as long as she is healthy.
But it may happen if she for example has diarrhea.

Use than a cloth soaked in warm water. Perhaps with a little mild soap if necessary.

well yeah she did pee and pooped in the litterbox like i mentioned, but is it natural for them to continue doing that in the litterbox? Right now my kitten had an urge to poop in some other corner but i immediately picked her up and placed her in the tray....

Good you were quick. *smile* Usually they do theirs in the litter yes especially if domestic, ex ferals more unsure. Some learning period is apparently necessary... *sad smile*

Did you take away the poop? Many cats do not like to use an used litter... Besides it smells less to you too. Little pee is Okey though.

dont let her in the rest of your apartment before you are 100% sure she can behave.
It is easier to learn the litter-cleaness if confined to one room.

Oh yes, I hope you dont have hers food, or water, or sleeping near the litter?

Most people have food and water together. You should have one more water place -apart...

Thanks stefan! yes, her food, water, sleeping cushion everything is away from the litter tray. I also scooped off the poop immediately. One other long term question....after she has been litter trained, can i change the litter tray position...i want to move it from my room to the balcony...

Wellingtone cat: By urge, I meant that she had positioned herself for the pooping procedure near some other corner away from the tray....so i picked her up immediately to place her on the tray...

Anyway she is a darling....sleeping on my lap as i type...

Yes, usually there is no problem. Show her the new place only - many cats find themselves... If unsure you can have two litter in a intermiddent period. so you will be twice guarded. When she is sure to find the balcony litter and uses it - you can take away the rooms-litter.

Preferably have net around the balcony so she cant jump or climb out!

It is btw an excellent idea - so she may go out on the balcony at will, listen to the birds, looks around. Usually appreciated by many indoor cats.
