Howdy everyone!

I am new to this forum as well as a new member to the world of felines. I got a new 2 months old kitty which happens to be my very first pet. She is a stray cat that was rescued today morning from the street. Its a she, but well I have decided to name her Pablo. Finally after years of pleading and begging, my parents have agreed to have a pet only if i am able to toilet train it. After getting Pablo am not so confident regarding the litter box part. hehe

I just got her this eve and till now hasnt peed which is a bit weird. Anyway, when i introduced her to her litter box she found it repulsive. I came to know that she prefers newspapers than sand, so i have placed a newspaper in the box, but how do i make her realize that this is her toilet and this is where she is supposed to go?

Second, she hates travelling, today when i got her from spca in the basket, my god she kept on crying wich was heartbreaking. And now that she has finally settled at my place tomorrow i have to make her go through the hellish trip again on the road to the vet. Her left leg is stiff and limp, am worried....hope its nothing serious.
seems this got a tad long, also am in a bit of a hurry so excuse my tardy language...
heres a pic of pablo taking rest! -- http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y26...five/pablo.jpg

Aww!, what a cute kitten!

Reilly and I would like to welcome you TCS!

First off about the litterbox, I would just keeping putting her in it every so often and soon enough she'll get the idea.. Cats are very easy to litter train

As far as the travelling thing goes, I would say to try and get her used to it. My cat is 4 years old now and a clawing biting nighmare in the car.
...but that isn't his fault it's mine for babying him so much..I'm sure your kitty might cry in the car but she'll be ok

If you continue to notice the sore leg I would say to take her to the vet to be on the safe side.

Any other questions you have about your new edition you can post in the health and nutrition section of these forums and there will be many other people who can help answer any questions you might have

hey thank you! Hopefully in a week she will know where her toilet is.

Poor baby, she is crying, i think she misses her old home. How long will it take her adjust? I dont understand one thing, she keeps on sucking my finger, is it because she has the habit of sucking milk? And she has found a soft spot on my lap, in whatever position i am sitting she will crawl up, sometimes when its not convinietn i hate to put her back on her cushion....

anyway am all confused about it, but i love her soo much!

thanks for the welcome!!

I'd say the sucking and cuddling are good signs she trusts you. The sucking can be because she is young and has probably only left her mother recently. Lots of kittens will curl up in your lap. It's warm and secure, like sleeping with the rest of thier siblings. My kittens have all cried some at first. Especially when they can't see me. It could take a little time for her to adjust but I'm sure you'll take good care of her!

She is pretty young and should still be with mom. Mom would be the one to show her the litterpan, so now you are elected. Allow her to have accidents without scolding her, kittens just do that. She will catch on. Has she seen a regular vet yet? Been treated for parasites? If you can, buy her a snugglekittie http://www.snuggleme.com/social.html They truly do help the little ones who are missing thier mom and siblings

^ Yeah, i know she is pretty young and needs her mom, but her mama died in an accident and she was left abandoned on the street, thats what the spca told me when i adopted her. I know she must be missing her mom and siblings.

aaw, snuggleme seems to be a good option, but well i stay in India, and we dont have so many cat friendly products here, its more dog oriented, cats arent all that popular pets here. Anyway i have puffed up the cushions and blankets and made a cozy bed for her....aawww..look she is having a kitty nap!

Its fun to see her react to different sights and sounds here! hehe you should have seen her all amused looking at the bed cover flapping in wind trying to catch it.
