The Vet did a biopsy on my cat yesterday and she has to wear an e-collar for 10 days so she won't lick or pull at her stitches. She can't stand it. She has gotten it off her head three times in the first day. I am worried while I am at work and tightened it as much as I could without hurting her. Does anyone have any tips about these? It's the first time she's worn one. Thanks.

Get some gauze (the kind that comes on the roll), and cut a fairly long piece.
Thread it through the collar and tie it securely, but loosely at the back of the neck.
Then run the long tag ends over her shoulders and cross it over at her armpits, then bring the ends back up and tie them off securely behind her shoulders.
It should now be sceured via an impromptu gauze harness.

Nearly impossible to slip out of.

That's a great idea, thanks! Maybe tonight I won't be trying to maneuver the thing back on her at 3 a.m. I really appreciate your advice.

I had to use this method on my kitten since they really don't make kitten sized e-collars. Worked like a charm.

Sometimes it is possible to have a body-stocking on the cat! As a alternative to the elisabethanian collar.
