Help me figure this out:

If I wash my hair with T-Gel Shampoo, then let my 8 year old cat smell my hair, he goes nuts. He acts as though my hair smells like cat nip (with a catch). He'll rub and rub a few times before turning on me. Teeth and claws. It's like a "bad" cat nip. He even gets that glazed look on his face like he's just had his cat nip for a while. The one thing I have noticed is that he will only do this if my hair is wet. Once my hair dries he doesn't seem to be bothered by it at all. I've tried several different types of shampoos and stuck my head in his face, but none cause a reaction like the T-Gel.

Does anyone know of any ingredients in T-Gel Shampoo that resemble anything related to cat nip? I'm trying to figure this out, but have had no luck.

I can honestly say I've never heard of this...but maybe someone will have. Do you have the bottle handy? Maybe if you type out the list of ingredients someone will recognize one of them as being a stimulant or something that cats don't enjoy. My suggestion...switch shampoos

Good luck!

I know it smells vaguely like valerian, which cats react to in the same manner.

Josie likes to hop into the shower after I get out. On days I use T-Gel she kinds of wrinkles up her nose and won't get in. She doesn't seem to like it. I'm not much help.

Is T-Gel a dandruff shampoo?

I use Head and Shoulders and Mitts attacks my hair as well. Because I put my hair up when wet and it is humid here, I often have damp hair when I go to bed. He tries to bite it, claw my head, etc.

I haven't figured out a solution other than tucking my hair around my neck! I am contemplating cutting it short so he doesn't eat it!

It is a dandruff shampoo, but I use it from time to time 'cause it's a strong cleaner (I work on cars from time to time and end up head to toe in grime). I've tried head and shoulders, but he won't react to it. T-gel is pretty potent compared to most.

I'll see about typing up the ingredients later.
