I am having a craving for a good salad. I want to go visit a salad bar. I like to put the lettuce and cabbage mixture(the main greens) and put carrots, tomatoes, corn, pineapple, cucumber slices, beets(I love beets!) kidney beans, garbanzos, and cheese. I top it with sunflower seeds, bacon bits, crumbs, and either ranch or italian dressing. What do you guys like in your salads?

I also like taco salads. The ones they serve here at school, they put refried beans at the bottom of the shell, then add cooked ground beef. Then they add lettuce, tomatoes, chopped green onions, sour cream and salsa. Very good and filling!

Just went to the local salad place for lunch, in fact, how funny.

I had the mixed greens (not caesar and not iceberg), cucumber, carrot shreds, garbanzos, green pepper, turkey and Green Goddess dressing. I prefer Parmesan Peppercorn, but nobody seems to have it around here. I have been known to add: marinated tomatoes and mushrooms, corn, peas, 3 bean salad, egg, tofu, feta cheese, olives, jicama, ham, red onions, beets, giardinieri, pasta. I also like it when they have the little paper bowls out and I can try a taste of the different premixed salads, like the chicken and peanut one, or cole slaw, potato salad, seafood and shells, cobb salad, etc. I usually only want a bite or two so that's the perfect size.

I am not a salad lover, but when I do eat them I like Italian dressing ( low cal if possible ). I also like lots of toppings like croutons, beets, cucumbers, tomatos, and sunflower seeds.

On taco salads, I like to top it with spicy salsa and a bit of sour cream. Yummy:tounge2:

I love salads and I really enjoy romaine lettuce mixed with iceburg then I'll put red, orange, and green bell peppers, onions, mushrooms and plum tomatoes....yummy. Oh, and I use balsalmic vinegar with light olive oil..sometimes I don't use light olive oil

NO CROUTONS, BACON BITS, BEETS(TOO MUCH SUGAR)GARBONZO BEANS, KIDNEY BEANS...Too many carbs. That's the way it is for me...not necessarily for anyone else.

Are you guys intentionally trying to ruin my diet with all these food discussions?! JK

I love salads. I make them at home a lot. I like to get the really good lettuce and sometimes spinach. Then I add carrtos, celery, tomatos, avacado, cucumbers, hardboiled eggs, pecans, and cheese. (I think I'm forgetting something.) I love Kens Pecan Dressing. It's fat free and sooooo yummy.

Now I'm starving and I have to have a Slim Fast for dinner. I should have known better than to read this thread!

I like to go to Wendy's to get their new Chicken BLT sald. It has lettuce, bacon bits, cherry tomatoes, shredded cheese, some type of dark -green lettuce, and pieces of chicken. It comes with honey-mustard dressing, but I ask for ceasar dressing! It is so good!

My dad has a small greenhouse behind his house and in the summer we get tons of fresh veggies from him that make the best salads!! I usually use romaine lettuce, cucumbers, cherry tomatoes, grated carrots, green peppers , raw broccoli, grated red cabbage,a few pickle slices, croutons, some cooked chicken breast and a little cheese
Now that I'm a 'Gym bunny'
I cut the cheese and chicken out

Was it Debby Myers with her George Foreman grill or Amanda with her potato chip thread who started with the food? Also the Micheal Jackson with all the seafood? Anyway, I am just having a big craving for a salad. Ever had a chicken salad with cahsews? Its very good. I made a tuna salad the other day and turned out pretty good. I used mixed iceberg and romane lettuce, tomatoes, carrots, cucumbers, avocados, cilantro, and tuna fish. Instead of mayo, I add lime juice and a dash of salt. It is very good.

In the summer time, I like to buy mangos. I cut it into pieces and make a salad with sliced carrots, cucumbers, and jicama. Add lime juice with a paprika seasoning and salt.

I don't know why people are panicking. Aren't salads supposed to be good for you? And cooked chicken? Isn't there a low fat cheese?
I just love salads. I try and eat them before the main course.
Yum!

A caesar salad sounds good, too bad I already had Raisin Bran...maybe I can talk someone into getting me one at work tonight!

Alicia,
Salads can be very fattening....it depends on what you put on them! ahahaha!! Like you can have a great salad ...Romaine, Spinich, lettuce, but then top it with a bunch of cheese, sour cream, tons of corn, people go balistic at salad bars! hahaha! It's a free for all and they really think they're eating good....Not true..unfortunately

It's funny how people see "all you can eat" and somehow read it as "eat as much as you can until you vomit or pass out". I like those places myself, because we all enjoy different foods so everybody can get exactly what they like. My daughter is the worst for getting several plates of food, but she only wants a bite or two of everything and they don't make portions that small. And you know, good for her, at 5 years old, to want to try different things! I've met kids who go months on PB&J or mac & cheese because they just won't eat anything else!
