My one year old Jack is weird. If I'm walking through the house, he attacks my legs and hauls a**. If I'm asleep, he crawls under the cover to bite my toes and knees(?). He likes to watch me shower and has a major fascination with the toilet when it's flushed. But what REALLY amazes me is this: I have a countertop water cooler and he chews the spigot and takes the lid off. If anyone gets water from the cooler, he can hear it a mile away and will run top speed to see it. This is the 1st cat I've ever had and my neighbor says he's crazy. I also had to get rid of my daughter's shihtzu puppie because Jack was really mean to her. This was the first time I've ever seen a dog be afraid of a cat. Also, there are stray cats in the neighborhood and when Jack saw one of them he hissed at it. Why is he such a bully?

Sounds like a pretty normal cat to me. He might calm down a little as he gets older.

He sounds normal to me- neutering will help tremendously. You should also think about getting him a pet water fountain

Yup. With the others above. Normal kitty; very curious and playful. Be thankful for that. If he's not doing all of those behaviors above then start to worry.

He's a completely normal kitty - they all behave like this. It's a shame that you `got rid' of your daughter's puppy - things would in all likelihood have settled down in time with some proper socialisation. The chasing and biting behaviour - he is trying to play with you. He will settle and the biting will calm as soon as you have him spayed. My baby girl has been watching me in the shower since the day we got her - some cats are completely fascinated with water and yours sounds like one of them! Hissy's suggestion of a fountain is a perfect idea.

I wouldn't listen to your neighbour - ALL cats are a little bit crazy it's what makes them cats!! He sounds very sweet and cute to me....

He is aggressive towards the other cats because he is defending his territory - perfectly normal cat behaviour, particularly in un-neutered males. You must get him spayed for a number of reasons but in your case it will really help to settle him down.

Good luck - stick with it. Cats can be unusual at first to people who are not experienced with them, but hang in there it really will be worth it they are wonderful companions and friends.

Although I agree that it's perfectly normal behavior, and having cats my whole life, I will still neverfully understand them. I love the little fluff butts but I am still more inclined to associate better with my dogs. *ducks and hides from flying projectiles*

Having both cats and dogs, I have to say I prefer cats to puppies, kittens to puppies and dogs to puppies- there, that just about covers it! LOL

Haha, he seems like a pretty normal kittyto me. Sounds like he still has some kitten in him!

DEFINITELY get him neutered if you haven't already. He'll become quite a terror...spraying and busting out of the house...if you don't.

Of course, my 4 year old male played sniper with feet until I adopted a playmate for him, which you might want to consider doing. He is fascinated with the bathroom (likes to watch water go down drains) and my female is obsessed with the fridge. They all have their quirks, which is what makes them so lovely!

Oh how perfectly you have put it. Puppies are joyous but, well, erm....lets just say can be a tad exhausting and make you want to curl up in a ball and cry a lot of the time....(usually preceded by running around in circles and shrieking) lol!!

Sounds like "Normal-Cat" to me!
My Toby, when he was a bit more of a kitten, used to run as fast as he could if anyone started running water in the bathroom sink....he`d watch the water go down, then when the metal stopper bobbed up and then down again, making a tiny metalic sound, he`d ATTACK the creature that he was CERTAIn must be in the drain!
Our Tedy is amost a year old now...and he still LOVES to watch the water do down in the toilet!
Cats are so much fun.....but totally different than dog!

I read about a cat in Psycho Kitty that developed an obsession with water. If your cat is already dying to watch the toilet, the shower, and the water cooler, he could be headed down that path. Just make sure he has plenty of play time and stimulation to spend his kitten energy. Then maybe he won't be so fixated on water. Good luck.
