We've decided that we will be leaving if it gets to be a 4 or 5. It should be here on Saturday...if it continues on this path. Don't worry...I will NOT be leaving Watson and Mittens behind! I am too terrified by what may happen. We may go to my mom's about 30 minutes North of here, or we might just head up to Aggieland (College Station) to stay with my cousin Jeannie for the weekend. Not the best time to have a roof that already needs replacing
with a brand new couch

We are under a Hurricane Warning, we should start feeling her soon. They are saying that the weather is going to get worst by Midnight. We just went through this 3 weeks ago, when Katrina hit us.
I just hope the power doesn't go off, or else I have to cancel my trip again. (I cancel my trip to the keys when Katrina hit us on Aug. 25
) I don't think Miami is going to get a direct hit from Rita, but we are going to feel Hurricane wind condition.

If the Hurricane moves a little to north, it could make landfall in Louisiana.

Oh gosh, I just heard that Miami is going to be on the dirty side of the storm. Strong winds and lots of rains with Isolated Tornadoes.

Every time they update the projected path, it is moving more and more east. I'm in south west LA. We'll be leaving with our 2 cats, 125 lbs dog, 5 yr old son, hubby and me...........with only 3 weeks left in my pregnancy!!!

Hopefully, it will not increase it's strength and we'll be able to stay. We're leaving if it is a CAT 3 or more.

Hope everyone stays safe and listens to the officials!!!!

catherine--just be careful and leave as soon as possible. We're already making arrangements to stay with my mother. My in-laws are 20 minutes in from Freeport, Texas (beach)...they live in Sweeny. My mother-in-law said they are already boarded up to be on the safe side. We are at the high point in our neighborhood, but Abby, Zack's sister, lives on the bottom of the neighborhood (7 blocks from us), she will definitely be packing a lot of stuff back up. She is feet from the White Oak bayou which flooded bad in TS Allison 2001. She just moved in too on Labor day weekend!

Be safe everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Be safe all of you!!

I heard it might head for Houston and couldn't help but think of all the refugees from Katrina living in Houston who feel they are hurricane magnets.

I'm only a short 14 hour drive north if it gets bad and you need a bed to crash on!

Stay safe, all. Seems like a shame that everyone who evacuated to Texas from the last hurricane is getting hit again!

And Catherine, can you take some records from your OB-GYN so if you have the baby early when you are away from home, at least they will have your info?

Best of luck to all, I sure hope this one slows down soon!

This is heart-wrenching. Please everyone make sure you have gas and your vehicles all packed and ready to go. If you think the highways might get crowded, leave early.

If you are in New Orleans remember those levees are unstable and weak and you could get flooded again -- please evacuate. People won't be as sympathetic this time, because they know you have to be aware of the terrible danger you're in.

Oh great! Now, it's covering all of Texas
I've made a list of everything this is coming with us. If it's a CAT 3 or higher, we are headed up North to Spring to stay with my mother. I heard from someone in my class that our internet connections could be out for atleast 2 weeks, exciting since I have two online classes. UGH!

I think your prof would be forgiving considering the circumstances.

Yes, I hear the worst case scenario is that Rita will intensify and head to the Mississippi Delta again. Maybe if we all think good thoughts she will die in the middle of the Gulf.
