We have a girl kitty that is a very smart, normal, raise heck, get into every thing cat
never been sick and is about a year old or maybe a little more. My dumb question is she never purrs, any one ever had this before? I have had many cats over the years and never seen a happy kitty that didn't purr. Tom

I have a weak memory Herriot, you know the Yorkshire veterinarian, wrote a short nowel about such a cat. He did purr eventually - after some years...

If she is well and seems to be happy - it is ok. To purr is not inscribed in the law, you know. *smile*

I have cats that don't purr, they're very persnickety though. I wouldn't worry about it too much, kitty is probably just taking you for granted, lol.

I have cats who at first we thought didn't purr, but what we've learned is they simply make no sound when they do
Last night, I picked up Larissa, after giving her her medicated treat (issues with constipation), I could hear a slight snuffle...but I could feel the vibration of her breathing, she was purring to beat the band
just no sound to it!

I think all kitties are different. Some purr loudly, some very quietly, some with a even hum and some(like my parents old cat always has) purr with great pulses of noise like a revving engine. As long as she is healthy and happy I would'nt worry too much about it.

Yes, I too believe this. Coming to think of this, our own cats - good purrers both of them - they sometimes purrs quite different. Vagis may f.eks. breath heavily... - he is good health personated (touch wood).
