My poor silly. She's been puking all day long. This morning she was in the bedroom waking me up being all playful running around my feet and playing with my hair, but I disregarded her.

I fell back asleep when she left. When I woke up she was crouched in the middle of the livingroom not moving - not giving me my goodmorning leg rub. As my eyes focus I notice wet spots all over the floor. She has puked 4 times. None were solid, but one spot was a little tan in color. The rest were clear. A few minutes later she puked again.

Now that its been 12 hours she still is vomiting, not moving, hasnt been eating or drinking all day and she mews in a barely audible high pitch or gets that growly meow. Ive put the water right under her nose. I gave her a piece of her favorite meat - ham, she turned away like it was bread or something. I even heated up some chicken broth. But she still wont take it. Shes puked something like 18 times now. Just saliva or stomach acid.

My usual vet is out of town, so I called another one. I told him that Im a first-time cat owner, and that silly is only 5-6 months old. They said that they were closed, and told me that if she is still vomiting by monday (TWO days away!!) to give them a call.
He also asked if I had something that treats nausea and vomiting. It wasnt bismuth, he used some other technical name, I even asked if it was something like pepto bismol. He said no, and didnt even tell me where I could get this other stuff he was talking about. Does anyone know what he could have been talking about? Sorry, I dont have any other clues. But if anyone has any idea what he could be talking about - just name some things off for me (?) perhaps I will recognize something.

This last time, she vomited, fell over, and stumbled around for a minute. Then went and laid down again. Thats the worst time shes vomited yet. Theres been no blood or diarrhea and hasnt shown any other signs of the flu or anything. Just really depressed, vomiting, and obviously in some kind of pain.

I feel so bad for her.
I want to pet her and comfort her, but she wont have any of it.
I feel like its neglect - not being able to help her. And I hope theres nothing seriously wrong with her.
Anybody with input??

No actually there isnt a 24 hour vet nearby. I live in a little bitty town thats at least 35 min away from any other bigger town. and I dont have a car at the moment.
Such bad timing.

Oh and she just now puked again, the first time since she fell over. This time it was green and had thick chunks of semi-solid mucus. Im scared...

If you go to www.meowhoo.com and look under Health and then under Veterinarians you will see a sub category of dial-up vets. I would suggest you try one of those and just ask them what to do. You will need a credit card, because the phone calls will cost you, but at least you will have someone who is a professional on the other end that can give you a better idea what to do. It sounds to me like Silly got into something toxic? Plants perhaps? a bad insect? cleaning fluid? something? All else fails call the ASPCA Poison Hotline that pick their brain- I have the number somewhere- brb

1-888-426-4435 this may or may not be a free call- it just depends on who answers the phone and what all they need to do to help you. I am not even sure they can, because usually you call when you have a clear idea of what kind of poison your pet might have ingested, but it is worth a shot-

Good luck!

Do they have online support there? I dont have a credit card, or a bank card. Swear... well I do have a ATM but it only has $1.35 in it, and has been unused for over a year.

There was nothing to get into ...we dont have any real plants. The only unusual insects that she could have possible found was a bunch of termites... but people eat those as their main meal in one culture. All the cleaning solutions are behind cupboard doors that she couldnt possibly get into. The only thing I can think of is maybe she found something on the floor - under the fridge/under the stove?? Oh she is also teething right now... She tore thru a roll of toilet paper and left blood prints all over it - and lost two teeth (a day ago... before she even appeared sick at all.) Could teething have something to do with it? Just a shot in the dark.

Im so sorry you are without a competent veterinery.

How is it with water? SHE MUST HAVE WATER!
Does she drink? If not, you must force it to her with - lack the words, you must guess. If you dont have own, try lend from a neighbour. (a syringe of ANY sort will do - of course no needle necessary)
In the corner of the mouth across the mouth, not straight down in the neck/throat.
Most easy if someone hold her, and you administer the water.
If you alone and she resists, wrap her up i a thick towel.

Water will do, but preferably:
1 liter water, 15-20g= 1-1,5 soup-spoon dextrose or honey, 3g = 1 tea-spoon salt (the common food-kitchen salt).
Heat up so everything mix, let it be cool so the cat can drink.
Give, preferably a little once in a while, so she wont womit.

Good for cats and good for sick children...

Can you perhaps lend a car from a neighbour?? You should really to a competent vet soon.
But water she must have whatever you do.

Good luck!

Stef how much water do I give her? I gave her several spoonfuls, kinda just held her mouth open a little and poured it in through the side of her mouth. I dont know how much actually made it into her tummy. She hasnt puked it back up yet.

Would a hair-tie be the culprit here? Do cats vomit due to sore throats?

If Silly takes by spoon it is well. Less stress too I presume!
As long she takes is by spoon you dont need "syringe".

Good she doesnt vomit it out. She surely lacks water = is dehydrated by now, so proceed and give her. In small portions if possible - lesser risk for vomiting it out!

Hair ball? Yes they vomit because of it, but not so much. And if it is because of hair ball so it has stuck up. Not good.

She may well get sore throat because vomiting, but I dont think she would vomit so much because of sore throats.

Im sorry Im not a vet.

Didnt you manage to phone some of the telephone vet the other gave you?

Or phone the 24-hours clinic and ask them for advice? (if they do give advices, I dont know, but they cant give you any less useful advice then the "veterinary" in your home town...).

She seems to be doing better now. She chased a fly and went to her litter box - which is marked improvement. I will see when I wake up how well she is doing. If shes in the same condition, I will try to call those number.
Thanks for everything guys - Ill keep you posted

Good news, good with improvement - you gave here water too with teaspoon you did wrote in mail.
But watch out. If she purrs much and isnt apparently better then THIS purr means: I do have pains, I try to hold on and embrace myself.

Please, please...if she throws up green like that again, she must go to the vet. Sunni threw up green, and I mean KELLY green, bile all over the house when she was having liver and kidney failure. This was the day before we lost her. Reading your post gave me the chills, thinking of Sunni.

I'm glad that she seems to be feeling better, but I believe I would still take her to the vet as soon as you can, regardless. Please keep us posted about her condition!

I hope you have had some help for this poor cat by now. It sounds like there is something seriously wrong with your cat. You need to call the number you were given earlier, or get someone to drive you to the vet clinic.

Let us know how your cat is.
