And now, I have to do a little dance!

I am so happy we finally had this breakthrough!! She went for Wellness turkey and Salmon....finally! I've been supplementing with Dr. Goodpet's optimum growth formula and a wee little bit of KMR, because she had stopped growing. Well, we got her cleared for worm, parasites and other problems, and now...SHE ATE THE WET FOOD! I am just so proud of my little girl. Maybe our struggles are over...

Thanks for your encouragement, all! Stephanie, you're right...she's such a good little girl! We're starting small...just once a day until she's eating her portion consistently and working our way up. I think I'm always going to supplement with dry, especially since Leo doesn't seem to want to budge as far as the wet food goes. Although I'm sticking with Cal Natural or Evo, so I trust both foods. But, she needs the wet, especially since when we found her she was emaciated and the weight gain doesn't seem to be catching up with her. However, she's ALREADY doing better with the supplements and this wet food can only mean good! Let's all keep our fingers crossed!

Has anyone heard of Evanger's pet food?

Yes, I have...Evangers has a very good reputation. As I recall, at least 2 of their canned cat foods met my requirements (which includes no garlic).

Yeah, Evanger's is canned in their own plant in the Chicago area, so it's a bit cheaper for me for that reason. There's a pet boutique at the end of Ian's block and the owner (a retired vet) gave me a free can of Evanger's Pheasant and told me that she got even the pickiest of cats (i.e., my Leo) to eat the Pheasant. The ingredient list looks quite good...it's all human-grade, etc., and there isn't any garlic

Leo will eat boiled chicken, so I'm thinking about putting a little bit of the pheasant in with the chicken to get him accustomed to the smell...thenmaybe he'll eat wet food. WHo knows. Ultimately, that's how I got Lola to eat the stuff. We worked our way up to a full plate of wet, and she ate ALL wet for the first time tonight and did wonderfully. In the past, Leo would refuse the chicken when coated in ANY wet, but I'm hoping this woman is right about the Evanger's.

It's called Wigglyville and it's on Broadway just south of Roscoe. I want to say the address is 3337 N. Broadway, but don't hold me to that
It just opened, too. The owner's name is Hollus...she actually used to be one of the managers of Chicago Emergency Vet Services on Clybourn from what I understand. She's extremely nice and quite knowledgeable.

Have you ever been to 4-Legs at Racine/Clark/Grace? That's another good one. I'm not sure if they carry Evanger's, but it's a nice store. Same with Ruff Haus in Lincoln Square, which has the most competitve prices I've seen at one of these 'pet boutiques'. That one is a few steps east of the Rockwell brown line stop.

Anyway, we should meet up for coffee sometime! I'd love to have my first TCS meetup. I'm living in Lakeview until the end of the month, and then I'm moving back to Lincoln Park on October 1. You should let me know!
