Well, I have been wanting to rent some movies for awhile now, but not sure what to get.. and I hate walking around a video store for 40 minutes just to find a decent movie to watch.

So, have you seen any good movies recently?

If you could give me the name of the movie(s) and a brief description of it, or even the main characters, then I would very much appriciate it. =)

Thanks in Advance,
Sarah

What types of movies do you like?

One movie I recently saw was Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, starring Jim Carrey, Kate Winslet and Kirsten Dunst. (It wasn't one of Jim Carrey's stupid comedies...) It's following Jim Carrey's character while he gets a procedure done that erases a person from his memory (Kate Winslet, his former girlfriend). I wasn't sure what to think from the previews, but it was actually a pretty good movie. I don't like Jim Carrey's comedies, but he's becoming a decent dramatic actor.

I really loved that movie. I keep telling people to check it out. It was surprisingly good.

The Pianist. It is a little older. But it is a fantastic movie!

We also watched Guess Who last night. It was really funny. I enjoyed it. I've heard Crash was really good. I dont know, I am going to watch it tonight. If you want a scarier movie, Saw is good. It has such a good twist.
Has anyone seen The Jacket??? I think it is about a war vet who wakes up in a straight jacket. We rented that one, we will probably watch it tomorrow. I dont know if it is going to be any good though.

I heard about Saw, my sister saw(
) it in the spring.. she said the story line was great, but it sucked for thrillers. But I am a wuss when it comes to scary movies, so it would probably be best for me!

I am interested in any sorts of movie.. all kinds. Mostly Action and Comedy.. but I watch and like everything.

I don't think I'd recommend "Saw" - that gave too many people nightmares. I liked "Mystic River" and "Hotel Rwanda", but a lot of people don't share my taste in films. My classes were all "allowed" to watch an English-language movie from my video/DVD collection the last week of school, and a lot of them commented that I didn't have anything "romantic" other than "The English Patient" and "Titanic". Guilty as charged. One class chose, and loved, "The Ghost and the Darkness".

I cannot find an english translation, sorry. My favoured movie is "The jungle book", (Rudyard Kipling), the animated film.

Sin City is really good. It is mostly in black and white, comic book style. It has a great cast, Mickey Rourke, Bruce Willis, Jessica Alba, Elijah Wood, and a bunch more. It is an action/crime/drama with some really cool characters. It is pretty violent, but it goes along with the story line, so it does not seem like gratuitous. I have seen it twice, and caught a few subtle things in the story the second time that I did not catch the first time. I highly recommend it.
