I've never known of this problem, and my friend is very concerned .... Her young cat can leap like superman ... but lately she's noticed her cat has difficulty when wanting to jump onto a counter which she has managed before... tried a few times, and then walks away. Apart from that she seems just fine as usual. Any advice?

It's hard to say from just that little bit of information, is the cat normal other wise? Eating & drinking normaly, peeing & pooing? I would watch for an increase in drinking & peeing. Also, I would at least give my vet a call & see if she was concerned.

You say the cat is young. Yes, it sounds like it may have a health problem of some sort. Possibly it has been injured, possibly it has a urinary infection. Or it could be something else. It likely calls for a visit to the vet. I recall someone a while back saying his eight year old cat could no longer jump up onto the bed and wondered if it was just old age. As I recall, it turned out to be a urinary infection.

I would take your cat to the vet. Problems with jumping can also be related to a heart condition.
