Well my femlae cat gave birth to 6 kittens about 3 weeks ago. This is the fourth litter she has had in a little over a year and she has done everything right but for some reason there is one cat that will just sit there and meow almost every night. My first thought was that it wasnt getting enough food but then again all the other kittens are fine. Then i thought it might of just of been calling for its Mom but even if she is there he will still meow. So if anyone knows what is wrong with him or what i should do that would be nice. Also he only started this about three days ago.

A few more questions also:
How long after a Female Gives Birth is it ok to get her spayed?
Can you have a female spayed when she is breast feeding or when she is in heat?
Ive always gave away my kittens after 8 weeks, but someone was telling me its 12 weeks, what one is it?

Thanks!

wwwooo, 4 litters in a year? thats a lot!
12 weeks is best for the kittens to be seperated, 8 weeks is too young, their need their mother. You can have a female spayed while in heat but some vets charge a bit more. I think you can spay the mother a few weeks after she gives birth but you will have to wait for a second opinion on that one.

Are you sure the kitten is fine? Sometimes the mother cat will sort of disown one if she knows there is something wrong with it.

Yeah with her it was just one after another.... and thanks for the answers. Yeah she doesnt seem to be disowning any of them, they all are still in the box and she doesnt try to move them or anything. And from what i can see all the kitten are 100% fine.

Ha! I had one that did that....meowed constantly...so I decided to call her Crybaby....she is now around two and has not quit. You know these guys all have their own personality and I wouldnt think nothing of it as long as the kitten seems to be in good health and momma there is attending her/him.

my cat just had 3 kittens 9 days ago and we can already tell that one of them is rather more noisy than the other 2. she doesnt shutup meowing but is perfectly healthy she just has a lot to say.

Alex...given that she has already had 4 litters in a little over a year, I would definately confine her indoors and set up her spay once the kittens are 6-8 weeks of age. You can confirm with the vet, but she should still be able to produce milk after she has been spayed.

If you need a low cost clinic, here is a list for Oregon:

http://www.lovethatcat.com/spayneuter.html#or

It will be absolutely critical at this time that your female has no access outdoors or to intact males so if you are allowing her to be indoors/outdoors, then she needs to be kept strictly indoors until she has been spayed. Also, I do hope that you are making sure whoever takes a kitten is planning to have them spayed/neutered as well.

Spaying a cat while she's in heat is usually not recommended. I'm not sure of the exact details, but I think it either takes longer to heal, or carries a risk of anemia.

As to how long you should wait after queening...probably after the kittens are weaned, unless there's a significant risk of a tom getting to her before then. (It seems to me that nursing kitties might mess with the sutures and possibly hurt Mama.)

And...there are baby kittens that don't howl?
