I searched through the board cause I'm sure I read this on here before but now I can't find it (ain't that always the way ?!)

Just wondering - I know it's dificult for a human to express milk from a cat but today I can squeeze a tiny drop of milk from Kiera's nipple. It's not coming by itself mind you, I have to gently squeeze for it to come out.

Here's my questionL: I'm trying to see if anyone else was able to do this and how many days afterwards did your cat have her kittens ? Obvioulsy, she's after the 50 days mark as that's when the milk is supposed to start being produced - just wondering what other's experience with this is ? Were you able to do it and how much longer for the "pitter patter" of little feet ?

(I'm fostering her, no idea when she mated)

Thanks !
Julie

If you gently squeeze a nipple and a drop of watery milk (colostrum) appears, it will be approximately two to three days before the birth. Another clue that the birth is only a couple of days away, is that her vulva will swell and turn a deep pink colour.
