The injured dogs were almost put to sleep. Now they are up for adoption.

Thank GOD those poor pups survived (twice!) and were not put down at the owner's saying so!

I hope those pups go to good homes. I know Katherine (katspixiedust) volunteers with GPA so maybe she can tell us more about this as well.

I didn't know she did!

Yeah, the poor dogs. I have to wonder about the owner's motives. I mean it could be anything from thinking that they were suffering to how much insurance money she could collect.

Those poor dogs It's obvious that they were nothing more than racing machines to the owner. Someone who cares about thier dogs would want to do everything they could to help them. Surely the owner had the money. I'm glad they weren't put to sleep. I see a greyhound rescue group when I am doing my demos, and those are the SWEETEST dogs! They want nothing more than to be scratched behind the ears and loved on. If we decide to get another dog someday (3 is enough for now), we're seriously considering a Greyhound. It's amazing how sweet they are after all they've been through.

They are investigating the cause of the fire and I'll bet they will find that the dogs' owner set the fire to collect insurance money. That's why she was so anxious to have the surviving dogs put down.

I was owned by 2 greyhounds for many years and participated with greyhound rescue groups in Houston and Kansas City.

This is the type of owner that give the racing industry a bad name. My guess is that her motives were that she was going to have to pay a lot in vet care and not get any return from track money. If they were not good breeding stock (only the ones that win a lot of races are used to breed), they were more expense to her than revenue. The greed for money overshadowed her heart. Shame on her!

Poor dogs!

People like that should die a painfull death.

Once we move into a bigger yard with a large fenced in backyard, I want to then look into adopting a greyhound.

I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong. I've never seen a dog race (and never plan to). IMO, people who love their dogs wouldn't race them in the first place.
