I have an 8 1/2 y.o. male cat that loves to play in and around plastic bags. That's great!!! My problem is that I just got a 2 1/2 y.o. male cat that loves eating and then throwing up plastic bags!! Aside from keeping them out of reach, is there any training I can do to prevent him from eating the bags??

Thanks,
Keith

Really, the only other thing you could do is spray them with cirtus spray or something that is harmless that tastes unpleasant. Although really the best option is to keep them up and away from them. If some happens to get stuck in the digestive tract, it could mean death or a large vet bill.

Thanks for the advice, but he seems to only do it when I'm gone. (Cats are smart like that!) BUT, if I do catch him, I will try that. Thanks!

In a drawer or cupboard. Some plastics manufacturers use fish oils to process their bags and especially the grocery sacks are quite appealing to kitties. I have one cat that will try to open the door of the cupboard where the sacks are hanging, but after having to rush her to the vet for an obstruction that turned out to be bits of plastic, the bags are now always put up in a safer place.
