So, I've got these feral kittens who were in fairly bad shape when I got them. The worst of them has a very bloated belly and skinny limbs. After almost 3 weeks they are definately looking better (although still not GOOD per se), I am wondering what their weight should be like?

I know younger kittens should gain about 4oz a week, these guys are at least 8 weeks if not 12, does the rule still hold? They didn't have much muscle mass when I first got them, I wonder if that has any affect...

It doesn't help that I have a rickety scale.
But I do what I can.

My kittens normally weigh around 4 pounds give or take an ounce or so either way at 8 weeks but it depends on so many individual things that it is hard to say what a good weight would be for your babies ... have you spoken with the vet to get his opinion about it?

My vet said that a good indicator of age is 1/2 lb. every two weeks, until they're four months old, when male and female weight tends to start diverging.

And, as a referance, the conversation began with us trying to figure out how old my darlings are, as Bella came with a three week range from the humane society (8-11 weeks), and Rowan is a foundling.

Edit: I wrote two months, when it should have said four.

Not yet on the vet. I'm doing this through a small rescue group so it's very... slap dash I would say.

These guys are almost 3 pounds to about 3 1/2, but like I said, they are definately not the right weight for their age. I'm more trying to figure out the rate they should be gaining at... But I suppose that is a case by case thing.

Wow, I've never seen a 4 lb 8-week-old. Do Meezer kittens tend to be larger?
