If the follow-up is necessary as part of the procedure and to monitor the treatment, it's free. If I want a follow-up for peace of mind or just to make sure, I pay for it.

Sadly our vets charge for follow-ups. It's usually about $15 less then the normal visits if its with-in a 4-6 week period. They don't charge for phone consultations or weight checks though.

We have all 6 of our animals on a health care program thru Banfield. its about 15-20 per month per pet but covers all visits, shots, normal care, dental work, and discounts on medicine. it gives us peace of mind and we dont get slapped with a huge vet bill when we take them in.

Nope, he never charges me for follow-up visits...he also doesn't charge me for room and board if one of the kits has a procedure. My last bill was $67.50 for both cats - Cody got her Rabies shot and Jovi got his last round of 3 kitten shots. It gets expensive but they're worth it!

Man, I wish mine was like that, I can't get out the door for under $100-150!

No matter what, if I'm in the office even for 5 minutes, I get charged. Follow-up or not, there's a fee for just ENTERING the office for a few moments with the Vet.

I think the standard "you are here and must pay!" fee is $60.

I *do* get a discount for being a "multiple cat household". I guess they know all my kits come to them so they give me discounts on certain things, but still, it's expensive. I considered health insurance for my pets but lord was the quote HIGH.

I'm ashamed to say I have no idea what my vet charges, they don't give a breakdown of the bill when you pay.

First visit - vaccinations (not inc luek.) and worming powder £40
Second visit - vaccinations (not inc, luek.) plus worming paste plus frontline (3 months supply) £70
Third visit - worming tablets plus special food as Max had diarrhea- £25

All these tablets, vaccinations & frontline were for both kittens. I'm assuming that the actual charge to walk in the door can't be too high as the cost of the last visit was very reasonable.

Hmmm, I'll have to get a breakdown of charges next time I go.

Woah! Thats cheap! For two vaccinations and a checkover for two cats around here will be around... $120. for one cat being vaccinated and checkup, itwould be about $80

LAst time I was at the vets was with my dog.. err.. September 2nd. All they did was shave a hotspot on his leg, give us a some pills, a new food, and a antibiotic shot and it came out to $125

But when he was neutered, he got an infection from licking the incision, and they looked him over, and gave him a shot for no charge, so I guess it all depends on the vet.

Eek! $120 is a lot!!

Yeah and I think his prices have gone up in the last couple years...they use to be lower! But if you bring in 2 animals at the same time, you get a 10% discount. And when my old kitty Tigger was diagnosed with a tumor on his heart, my vet really helped me out with 24 hour service, giving him free meds, injections and follow up visits. We live in a really small town and he's the only vet in town so I think it helps that we've always gone to him plus he knows that we properly take care of my animals.
