I have a stray kitten at my house. I am getting attached to her. However, she is sick. She has diaherrea and who knows what else. I have given her water and some chicken breast. I also put desitin on her bottom because it is very sore and red.
I can't afford to take her to the vet at this time and I don't want to bring her to the Human Society. Does anyone know of anything else I could do for her? Today he bottom isn't as red and her stools are getting less runny.

She probably has at least bad fleas and worms and really does need to see a vet. Is there any way you could talk to a vet and ask about deferred payments or instlalments. It sounds like you want to do the best you can for htis kitty and she is lucky having you to care about her.

I still think a trip to the vet is in order....I do hope if you have any other pets, that they are kept seperate as you do not currently know her FIV/FELV status. You will also need to set up her spay appt.

Here is a list of low cost spay/neuter clinics, perhaps if you contact them, they will be able to refer to a low cost vet to have her checked over:

Thanks for the info!! I do plan to take her to the vet and do all the checkups and get her spayed. He bottom is normal now, but she has runny stools.

She might have coccidia. If that's the case, she really does need to be on some medicine. Coccidia can cause runny stools and can cause blood in the stool as well. Both of my cats have had it, and it's fairly easy to treat....just some oral meds that knock the coccidia virus down and allow the cat's immune system to kill it off.
Good luck!

I brought what I thought was a her to the vet. It turned out to be a him. He doesn't have leukemia. He actually is healthy. Just a little under weight. He did have ear mites severly. The vet said it is probably the worst case he has ever seen. We are on meds for that. He also was given some wormer. Thank goodness he is healthy!!

How old is the kitten? If under 12 weeks, he should be retested for leukemia/fiv in 6 months to make sure he doesn't have it and it's just not showing up. Good luck!
