I rcently took in a few female kittens. I would like to get them spayed before them going to their new homes (they wont be weened till they are 10 weeks old) I was just wondering if I could get them spayed at 10 weeks old, and what shots they will need.
Thanks!

Yes...you can get them spayed at 10 weeks, you just have to find a vet who participates in pediatric spaying/neutering. The kittens will definately need a distemper shot and may need a dewormer..they are probably too young to receive rabies. Have they been tested for FELV/FIV? If not, they will probably need to be tested before they are taken in for their spay. Contact your local spay/neuter clinics and find out what exactly needs to be done before you can set up the spay appt.

CA (at least) has a state law that requires all shelter kittens to be altered before they're adopted out. When I brought Circe home, there were some rather tiny kittens (certainly less than ten weeks old) who were ready for adoption.
