It appears that I'll be moving to a new apartment in a month or so. My cat, Dani Night Stalker, has lived with me for 6 months. Will it be difficult for her to adjust to new surroundings? How do I handle the move, leave her to last so I'll be there to comfort her?

Dani's a good cat, 18 months old. Very skittish around new people, she runs and hides until my guests leave the apt. But she lets me and my roommate pet her... when she feels like it. Though a good butt scratch is always welcome

Quick funny tale. I dropped a sock in front of her litter box. When she did her business and was covering it up, she spied the sock and indignantly swipped it out of the path to her box. She looked so flustered about it, I had to laugh. :tounge2:

Will your cat be going outside when you move. If so you normally have to keep them in for about 3 - 5 days to get used to their surroundings inside and look outside to get their bearings. Gradually let your cat out for 10 minutes at a time until you feel confident. You will prob. see your cat marking out his territory.
My cat has never had a problem we have moved three times since getting him and each time he has been fine. I have never had to keep him in at all. Even when gone to visit my mother 50 miles away and have taken him he will go out andcome back with no problems.
If your cat is not going to be outside then he should adjust well if you let him adjust to one room at a time. he will find his own way. Good luck

Thanks for all the tips. Dani's an inside cat. I'm sure she'll miss her current perch on the windowsill but hopefully she'll adjust quickly to the new surroundings.
