and this looks like a fun/informative place.

I am familiar with vbulletin, and have a quick question:

How do I get an avatar in my profile?
It is blocked for me.

I will put up what I would use as an attachment here, but that does not appear active either?

Any help will be appreciated!

Hi SL
welcome to TCS. You have to have a certain number of posts before your able to make your own avatar i'm afraid, but you'll be suprised at how many posts you get in a short space of time, thats as long as theres no posting just to get the numbers up of course

I'll move this to New Cats on the Block so the others can make you welcome!

Are you wanting to post a picture of your cats?

Here is a little biography for ya!

I am not a breeder or anything, but I love cats, and have had many over the years. I don't want to get into the indoor/outdoor controversy, but we do have 30%out/70% in. We have 2 cat doors, which allow easy access etc. I hope this is not going to be an "issue" here?

We live on an island for 3 mos out of the year..a family owned place. So the girls (3) go out there. Most of the time they are with us however. They do like to hike with us...we call it walkey walk.

I'll put my website up here --it has lots of pics of my cats, on pages 2 and 4.
it is not commercial at all.
www.geocities.com/mrs_doubtfyre

Some of you may recognize me? I volunteer at two other forums, so if you do...hi to you!

When were were married eons ago (1968) our 3 marriage cats seemed to have endless problems. They lived long, but one died of organ failure, one had a spinal stroke at 19 and one lovely very affectionate marmalade/ white died of thyroid cancer. They had urinary problems, diarrhea, lots of minor ills.

Our new kitties we put on IAMs Eukanuba and the vet bills have totally been a non issue. So I am very big on diet. For people too. I am a pharmacist and specialize in nutrient support..for your quality of life. Anyone who wants to email me can reach me at [email protected]

Our oldest cat is 15 and now has arthritis, tho, and is being monitored by the vet. She has this FHS...which I learned about 2 days ago.. no vet has given this odd thing name for us. That is how I found this site as a matter of fact.
This is not disabling, but really I feel for her, when she is aggravated. I posted about that on the Health forum here.

My son and his roommate have just adopted(actually RESCUED) two cats, one kitten, one
surgical recovering, young adult female. So we have issues with those. I hope to help them with this forum. I will donate too, and funnel questions from them. They are a bit strapped right now, with the vet $$ and kittie accessories
Newly graduated from college, new jobs, yada yada.

One thing I want to look around about is the controversy about vaccination sarcoma..and also its related unfortunate thing...inactive vaccines! I have consulted many vets on this and get very different answers --even from a cousin who is a vet! So I will look around more on this...in the future. A friend's indoor cat, died of this...it was gruesome to say the least.

So anyway... I love looking at all the pictures, and the enthusiasm here.
I can't imagine living without a cat... and it appears I am certainly NOT alone!
LOL
Thanks for the warm welcome.

Love,
ShrimpLover (my eldest is a shrimpoholic--hence the name).

I just love that avatar... I love the graphics here period!!

But the kitten removing that bane of the bulletin boards..--the RED X-- is just too funny!

I like all of the graphics... the cats are beautiful!

Wow! Great website. Your place must be Up North. I get up to Charlevoix, Traverse, Mackinaw, but have never explored the Upper P for fear I would be eaten by bears in the middle of the wilderness if our car broke down

Your kitties look so happy. I don't think you will find an indoor/outdoor a real issue here. Your Mama and babies deer are so pretty. Sorry about the Mama Doe

The last two years have been light regarding the bears.. That troublemaker on my website was fed by a well meaning lady over the winter, and when his mom threw him out of the nest so she could breed in June, he thought ALL WOMEN would feed him thusly.... bad for us...he was a pest. And some are downright
malicious, if they don't get a handout they deliberately trash solar lights, hummingbird feeders, planters...grills... blech blech. A wounded mad bear killed two people near Soo Canada this year...ick ick.

The real problem we face now are fishers (who will go after a cat) and wolves!

Yes the wolves return. The fishers were brought by the DNR to help with the red squirrel epidemic, now we have too many fishers.. and they climb trees. They have to swim a mile to get to us, but one did 3 yrs ago and got Oreo! She survived with only tail issues. But in over 50 yrs there had never been a predator on our island! Times change I guess!

I'm glad you enjoyed the little website...I haven't added to it lately..this year we have some new hummingbird pics. Yahoo is so difficult to work with..I'll try them tho.

Thanks for the compliments and interest.
P.S. we have NO electricity (only a small generator for emergencies) and an lovely outhouse!!
