hi there..im concerned about my kitten who's about 3 months old. When we first purchased it at a pet store it seemed fine as in it was going to the the bathroom regularly. suddenly it began going diarreah everywhere. my parents still have not taken it to a vet and its been going diarreah now for about a month. im very discouraged because it isn't normal to have those symptoms. so does anyone have any ideas why it keeps having this problem. we feed it regular Purina cat Chow which is good for kittens and we dont feed it other food or milk, just water. it did have deworming shots before we got it but i dont think shots have an effect on their immune system. ive also looked in its stool and found no traces of worms of any sort. so what is causing this? please give your input

There's a number of very SERIOUS things that could be causing this kitty to have diarrhea, and I'm sure that if its been going on for a month the kitty is probably severely dehydrated, which can be very dangerous.
I urge you to get the little guy to a vet ASAP. Please. No one on this board can diagnose and cure your kitty via the internet, he needs to be SEEN BY A DOCTOR and soon, before its too late.

Janiene,

Hi. It's possible that the Cat Chow does not agree your kitten. Has she always been on that brand, or was she feed something different at the pet shop? She may have an infection or virus that only a vet can diagnosis through an exam.

I agree that only a vet can tell. You need to take in a fecal sample too. My two rescue kittens had deworming shots as soon as I got them but have had loose stools then diarrhoea for two weeks and are now back in the vet hospital because of worms. There are so many kinds of worms a kitten can get and the first shots may not take care of all of them.
