... these cats. I read in another forum, they have the intelligence of a five year old child, and I think, it is true.
For example, few minutes ago, one of my cats started to sleep at her place, but another cat started to "fight" with her. So, she went away. I´ve seen it, took a blanket on my sofa - she was waiting for me to do this. Because she knows, she is not allowed to sleep on each place in my flat.
She could "say": Who is this woman, I don´t understand her, I speak another language and so on.
What I want to say, is, they understand us human exactly. What´s your opinion?

They certainly are
of the house/flat aren't they? They look at you and say "I will sit where I want and you sit on the floor, Mommy"

Oh yes! Wawa, the latest stray I've adopted, has learned the use of door knobs, how to ask mommy for treats (sits quietly by the container and when I look, he nudges it with his nose), knows his name and comes when called, etc.
Amazing!

They do not speak German, these cats. They speak cantonese I think.

And as for the intelligence of a human 5-year-old? Yep, I think that's bang on! -- an intelligent 5-year-old, mind you! And it's that belief that drives my conviction that the way to talk to a cat is as if you are talking to an intelligent child. They understand waaaaaaaaaay more than most humans give them credit for, and we communicate it best if we do it naturally, not in some stilted vocabulary supposedly geared to "dumb animals'" understanding.

Ohhh they are super intelligent
If I walk out into the garden Guin comes running cos he knows it's me.... Yet if my neighbours son walks outside, he runs and hides in the bushes cos he dosn't like him!

Oh yes! For the past few days each morning before I leave for work I leave treats in different places around the flat, I watched Max and Alfie this morning as they went without fail straight to each and every place and ate the treats before I got out the door! Going to have to find new hiding places

Loving my beautiful baby girl
Absolutely they understand us and most certainly rule our homes, don't they!
Our babies know exactly what we say to them, and most often know our feelings whether or not they are verbally expressed!

I know my kitten Chloe is very smart just by observing her. She too has learned that doorknobs are what make doors open, and how to open them herself.
My other kitten, Iris, is more on a 3-year old's level. She's very sweet, but not as smart as her sister.

My non-cat owned friends are often amazed at my boys' responsiveness. They'll come running when I call, respond to different tones of voice, they know where the treats are and the leashes, etc. And they know exactly what annoys us the most!

I trust my cat's judgement on people too!
