I have a load more photos - I probably took about 300 with my SLR alone, plus bf had his digital camera. I'll try to pick a few more good ones out and get them posted soon - promise
People keep asking me "What was the best part?" - that's SO hard to answer. We saw so many different things and went to so many diverse places that it's hard to pick just one experience.... so here are a few highlights from each of the places we went...
Singapore - I LOVED it there. The place is so culturally diverse. We stayed in Chinatown, eating for pennies at the hawker stalls. We spent a crazy evening in Little India, where I think I was the only Western and female person
And we drank Singapore Slings in Raffles Hotel. The night safari was absolutely wonderful - it was just amazing to be that close to rhinos and HUGE fruit bats
Australia - we went there mainly to visit friends you just can't do Australia in a week. I would definitely like to go back and spend some more time there. The weather in Sydney was stunning and the wine tasting in the Yarra Valley was fab
New Zealand - where do I start? We hired a campervan for the entire month we were there - it was great! The wildlife was fantastic - whales, seals, dolphins, penguins, albatross..... you just don't see that stuff every day. The penguins are just so cute - you could watch them all day!
We loved the East Coast of the South Island - it just had a nice feel to it. The Northland area is SO REMOTE! We decided one night to walk 2km into town to the pub, only to find the pub was shut - at 8pm!!! We sang karaoke with the locals in Opononi
We went glacier walking in Fox Glacier. We went skiing in Whakapapa. Bf did a sky dive in Wanaka. At the end of the trip we finished up in Takapuna on Auckland's north shore - great beach, small town feel - could definitely live there.
Hawaii - now this is a place I had always want to go... I was HUGELY disappointed that there wasn't someone at arrivals presenting everyone with a lei
- my dreams were just shattered. We visited Pearl Harbour, plus toured O'ahu's North Shore - Waimea, Bonzai Pipeline - all the big surf places, even if it was the wrong time of year for big waves
I took a surf lesson in Waikiki from an aging surf dude! It was great except I kept losing my bikini bottoms - no pictures of that for you
LA - we spent a day at Universal Studios which was great fun, plus it wasn't busy at all. I got absolutely soaked on the Jurassic Park ride - I mean I was dripping wet and my clothes were just soaked right through. Managed to catch up with my cousin who lives in San Diego, plus we toured Hollywood Blvd - usual tourist stuff. It was a fun way to end a great trip.
We were SO lucky to have been able to take this time out to do the trip - it was a wonderful experience and hey, bf and I survived 7 weeks, 24/7 together!!
