The Yankee candle thread got me thinking....
Do you burn candles often?
I recently got into doing it and find that it really relaxes me to sit down in the evening with the lovely scent and glow of a nice candle.

Tiff and I burn candles frequently in the living room. We place different scented ones in different areas. It's nice to walk around the place and experience the different smells! I definitely looooove candles!

I love candles and burn them all the time...I just have to keep an eye on the cats because Gandalf has melted his whiskers off before.
Hopefully he's learned his lesson.

I was thinking the same thing when I was looking at the Yankee candles on Sat!!
I don't know if I am thinking right but I keep my windows open basically from mid-May until later this month. So why burn candles if I'm not inside and won't the "fragrance" go out the windows??? I have never got in a habit so burning them in the spring/summer months. I do a bit more in late fall and winter though.

Thats my problem Steph! I have some candles that I absolutely refuse to burn

I especially like having them lit in the winter when I curl up on the couch with a blanket to watch a movie. It is so relaxing.

Oh I LOVE candles!! I got that trait from my mom, when I lived at home, she would always (and still does) have PartyLite parties all the time and would always get great smelling ones! I got a 3 wick from last Christmas that I still have that smells like hot chocolate, oh my its wonderful
I burn candles every night when I get home. There is something wonderfully relaxing about a clean home and candles burning, thats my tranquility!!

every weekday, that is. i have a candle warmer here at school that stays on all the time, to scent my classroom. at home, i use actual candles, so i don't use them as much - generally only when i'm trying to get rid of something malodorous.

Something else I do is buy those scented liquids and put them in a pan over low heat (instead of buying one of those simmering machines). I usually do that on the weekends. It uses a little power, yes, but it always smells so dang good!

Gail, I am exactly the same way! Especially in the summer when it is hot and humid - the air is too heavy for a candle.

I love burning them when it is a bit cooler though!

I love to burn them, but Milo just can't be trusted half the time, especially when he starts running around the apartment! But if things are calm and peaceful (aka he's napping) I'll burn them.

All righty then, here's a somewhat related question then, other than the obvious of watching them while the candles are lit, are there any tips to keeping the cats away from them? Or will they just learn, after one experience, that maybe it's not the best thing to bat at the flame?!? I suppose from here on it, I just need to make sure to get the big, heavy candles, preferably the ones in jars, that they really can't mess with. The den and media rooms aren't problems since they're not allowed back there (media room is also the company room, and both my brothers-in-law are allergic,) but could be a problem in the rest of the house.
