Little tom in fight

Hi guys

I'm hoping someone can shed some light on whether or not wounds from a cat fight should be stitched by a vet or not. I have a young tom (about 10 weeks old) who has a fair gash on his side, near the ribs. It looks fairly deep, but clean. I am cleaning it with Betadine (an antiseptic), and it doesn't seem to be causing him much trouble. I'm just concerned that it may take longer to heal if not stitched up.

Thanks

Cheers

No, most vets will not stitch it up. It needs to remain clean as you said you are doing. A fight wound will sometime abcess and then once it pops, it needs to drain. You may want to take kitty to the vet anyway, it's a good idea to get them on oral antibiotics while they are healing, especially if it was another animal that made the wound.
