I was wondering, if I do happen to get a buddy for Nermal - would it be OK to keep two of them in my apartment or is it cruel - in terms of space and stuff??

I have to keep Rosie and Sophie shut in the guest room while i'm at work as i have a house alarm set for downstairs, but the room their in has a window to look out of, plenty of room to chase and play around, along with their food, water and litter trays.

As long as your apartment is big enough to do all of those then i don't think it's cruel.

I too live in a one bedroom apartment, and my two are happy enough! So long as they have enough space to chase each other and play, I don't see a problem. I'm actually very glad I have two and not one, I think they'd be bored all day without each other to keep them out of trouble!

I have a 1 bedroom apartment and it has plenty of space for Harley to run around all day, I'm still thinking about getting another friend for him...still debating that one!!

I live in a bachelor apartment and have two. I got Nepheline a friend so that she would have company during the day. It seems to be enough space!

Just be sure you have plenty of things for them to jump on, like cat trees and condos. My two have their separate areas, and they are fine in my one bedroom.

Speaking of house alarms
we have a 2 story home and right after we moved in, I was out, the Cat set the Alarm off by coming down the stairs, and the Security place called my hubby at work and he didn't even know the the password
so they sent the police out because my hubby told them he didn't know if I was ok, and of course my neighbor had to tell me the police were here
We had to move that thingee in the cornor the sensor to another place or it would have gone off everyday

Oh yeah 2 in a one bedroom is fine. I'm in a one bedroom & my 4 are happy. Sometimes I think they'd like more space, but most of the time they are all in the same room together anyway.

I have 2 cats in a one bedroom apt. and they are fine. Cruel is the cages these poor cats/kittens have to live in while waiting for a home.

I have two in my one-bedroom apartment. It's maybe 600-700 sq. ft.

They don't seem to be confined, and Bella has actually been better behaved since Rowan adopted us.

Just use vertical space creativly. For instance, the following picture represents my cats' little haven.

The cat bed is generally elsewhere, but the top of the (very cheap WalMart) condo broke earlier, so it's doubling as the top until I fix it.

I was going to put the ironing board away, but they love to sit on it. That chair is theirs, and Rowan loves to climb up the rungs on the back to get to the ironing board, even though he can jump up.
