A few questions regarding ringworm...

How is ringworm transmitted to cats? I am aware felines can transmit to us but can we transmit to them too?

What are the symptoms in felines and I've heard that Persians are susceptible
to ringworm?

One more...how is ringworm treated in felines?

Ringworm is the one on the skin, no? (can't remember)

if so, I believe they treat it with a topical solution. And far as I know, its transmitted simply by touch.

The website fails to mention the easiest treatment - topical anti-fungal cream (like generic monistat cream) applied 2 to 3 times per day.

yes, we can get it from them, & they can get it from us - also they can spread to each other in multi-cat households. easiest way to spot it on them is hair loss. i don't think Persians are any more susceptible - it's probably just more obvious when they lose hair. & i've found that any anti-fungal works - i used the generic monistat, too.

Thank-you for the info. on treatment. Just did a quick search on ringworm and unfortunately I am finding that my poor little Buster (persian) is matching many of the symptoms. It is so hard to get a good look at his skin...it's almost like his hair has hair

When brushing him & scratching his back, you can feel brittle hair and bumps on his skin. I got a look and it is reddish in color...not a total circle like when I had when I had ringworm but I have been noticing that he is scratching a lot.

Will get some monistat or something like it tomorrow and apply 2-3 times. The problem is...how do I find every knook & cranny that is infected on him?

Yes, persians are particularly sucseptalbe to this disease.
Also, the whole apartment needs to be cleaned, the clothes and bed covers washed, etc.

We used iodine strips we got at the vet to rub them down on the infected spots. Then we put the anitfungal cream on and had to do it daily for about two weeks. I also washed all their blankets, bedding, the couch and everywhere they lay to help kill it. It was gone within two weeks. They also gave me a medication for them to take to kill it daily that they hated.

I will give a call to the vet. tomorrow & see what he recommends as far as treatment. Hate dragging Buster to the vet...way too much stress for him (and me).

Thanks for all the info.
