I am kind of getting interested in cat behaviorism. and i am wondering if anyone on this site belongs to this profession. I was wondering about the education involved...primarily in the UK since john and I will be moving there in the near future. But institutes in the US may be of interest to me too....

I have already talked to Anne about the topic, and was wondering if any of you have any more info on the topic. Thanx

Hi Nebula,

I'm sure you can find many experts on this board, and I don't have any recommendations for UK...but I can give you a recommendation for someone worth his weight in gold. Jackson Galaxy gave me some advisory on my cat integration and while it hasn't been 100% foolproof (what cat plan is???
) it has made life easier for my kitties and for me!

I have toned down Napoleon's obsession with Cassie and Cassie has been chill with Napoleon...they both sleep on the bed at night (sometimes, not always but that's a good sign)...and Napoleon doesn't feel the need to keep the whole house up at 3 o'clock in the morning (due to play therapy).

I give Jackson and his outfit two "paws" up!! Let me know if you would like his number, just PM me

What is a professional behaviorist to you? I could be mistaken, but I didn't think you could get a degree in that (although I would be surprised if you could). I would consider myself a behavior expert, but it's from experience, I didn't learn it in a book (for the most part).

True, but I am sure cat bahaviorists, also get into the depths of a cats brain make up and such. They also learn tricks of the trade like calming a cat using methods that some of us would not even think of.

Also as with a lot of vet specialties which behavior classifies under, in most state you have to be licenced to be able to practice.......

But i agree with you...I beieve just being around my cats has taught me more about the psyche of a cat them any book could, but the medical board may not feel the same way....
