many of you know that my Popeye is sick. I finally got an appointment with my vet tomorrow night. the thing is she does not think it is serious because he started eating a litttle bit today. He is still has red watering eyes and sneezing the only way i got this appointment was because I told her he also has ear mites. Do you think I am over reacting because I am a new cat owner or am I right about insisting on her seeing him right away? She refuses to see the new kitten we got Saturday unless Peanut starts showing sighns of being sick besides not eating cat food. She has always done a great job taken care of my other animals so I trust her judgment but I am not sure if I should insist on her seeing the kitten to or give the kitten more time to adjust seeing he is eating a half of can of kitten food and nibbling on dry throughout day. Thanks for any input you can give me.

I find this a rather strange reaction from a vet who has done a satisfactory job of taking care of your other animals and whose judgment you trust. Certainly a vet should understand about being a new cat owner and things that the vet may not see as critical from the distance of the clinic are going to trouble you because you're going through them for the first time. I think a good vet would have you come in ASAP anyway, even if it's not serious, just to reassure you. And certainly if they're interested in keeping your business. Just my opinion.

Get clear about your concerns with your current vet or see a different vet that you can talk to.
Keep us updated please.

I agree 100%. Do not ever feel silly about taking your babies to the vet. If she will not see your baby there are other good vets out there that will. I personally would rather be safe, than sorry.

I agree with the advice to get a new vet. And I think anyone who is a cat owner, new or old, needs to really keep a watchful eye on their cats. Sometimes it may mean the difference in living and dying for the cat. Things sometimes are worse than they seem, and I want a vet who understands how much I love my cats. So my advice is the same as some others, find a new doctor for you animals.
Good luck with the little fellow and hope you find out what is wrong.

I can't believe being turned down by a vet!!! Never in 40 yrs has that happened to ME!!

I agree, start looking for more compassionate care.

Cats can carry viruses...we adopted one long ago, a kitten from the vet no less, and it appeared heathy and was cleared for adoption.

It brought a cold virus or something to our older back cat who ended up with red draining eyes, which then needed eye antibiotics!

So really to have a vet refuse you...? very odd.

Sorry you have to deal with THAT!!
Best wishes...I'll check in again for an update...

Yeah...heck, if nothing else, you would think the vet would be happy to have the money for a visit about nothing. LOL...know what I mean? LOL!!
