Not an S.O.S. yet (I need to vent!)

Well, my boss just approached me taking a cat that a relative of his left behind when she and her husband moved. Apparently, the husband was allergic. One of the neighbors has been feeding the cat. Now my boss and his family are getting ready to move into the house where the cat is staying and they don't want him. He's talking about driving out in the country and dumping him. So far, they've made no effort to find the cat a home. No newspaper ads, no contacting area shelters, nothing. They just want someone else to take him and deal with the responsibility. We're still overwhelmed with cats and kittens in foster care, so really don't have room.
Plus our coordinator is adament that we not turn into a shelter/rescue group and keep the focus on TNR. Obviously, I'm going to do everything I can to help the cat, but I am so tired of and frustrated with people who are too lazy and lacking in compassion to do the right thing.

You have such a good heart eilcon! It is so frustrating the way some people have no compassion for anything but themselves! I'm overwhelmed with cats myself, but if I was any closer to you, I'd be glad to help out!

Some people just don't have any respect for these wonderful creatures!

This kind of attitude is just beyond my comprehension. It's a living, breathing animal with feelings and needs, how can anyone treat it with such contempt?? Is it really that much trouble to place an advert or ring a few shelters??

I seriously think there is something wrong with people who have so little regard for animals. Makes me very sad to be human sometimes.

Yup..that does stink BIG TIME. I get that ALL the time at the adoption event...people looking for others to take on the cat they no longer want. It saddens me. If you don't have the Best Friends PDF called "how to find homes for homeless pets"..you can find it here:

It gives really good advice on how to post an ad. I long for the day when cats aren't treated like second class citizens because they are a dime a dozen.

Why do some people think it's okay to make other people take care of their problems? Even if it is dumped out in the woods it will probably become someone elses problem. People are so selfish and thoughtless sometimes.

Good luck!

Good luck and bless you for helping!

That poor cat! Already abandoned by its previous owners, it doesn't bear thinking about how that little furry will feel to be thrown out of its home and left alone in an alien environment. Hey, maybe your boss should be dumped in a hostile environment and left to his own devices, see how he likes it? If only....

I like this idea, if only...
Seriously, what little respect I had for the guy is now gone.

I feed three truly wild ferals, and a concern of mine is what happens if I ever move? I do not know if I could trap them, or if the people who purchased the home would keep feeding...or if my neighbors would agree to take over.

But to just move out and abandon a pet to people who will not take responsability...what a world we live in. And how hard for you to have such a boss. Best of luck to you in this situation!
