Thankyou so much everyone for such a wonderful thread (thankyou Sonja & Susan for passing on all my messages). Chris & I are extremely overwhelmed by this thread – you guys are just amazing.
I will not go into the details of Jasmines birth to much as to be honest I didn’t have a great birthing experience – but briefly as I can be, as some of you have emailed & pm’d me asking for details. I went into pre-labour at 4am Friday morning. Contractions were intense but irregular – ranging from 10 minutes apart to 40 minutes apart. This continued on all weekend…. Hospital informed me that baby was most likely in a posteria position so labour will likely be long, intense and extremely slow moving.
Sunday lunchtime, after no sleep since Friday morning we decided to head into the hospital to be monitored as I was getting quite distressed and see if anything was happening (see we listened to you Chris & your Mum!!! LOL).
We fully expected to be sent home within the hour. Much to our amazement something was happening and they admitted us – thankfully!! However it still looked like it was going to be a long few days
The next 24 hours were intense, pain was unbearable and to be honest, Chris was my rock – I would not have got through these 24 hours without him (and the maternity staff) – I honestly don’t know how he didn’t break down.
I was informed at midday that baby was lodged in my pelvis and was in distress – an emergency cesarean was necessary. I burst into tears at this news as I so wanted a natural birth, especially after being in labour for 31/2 days but in the end our child was much more important.
At 12.27pm on Monday, September 12th Jasmine Louise O’Brien entered the world with a scream… Mum & Dad cried of course!! I was sent to recovery and Chris went with her to be checked and weighed – she got a perfect score of course
Its now Wednesday afternoon and she is a perfect angel – she is sleeping brilliantly and feeding without a problem. We rarely here her cry and are so blessed. She is our world, our life and we simply adore her… It is still very surreal that she is our daughter and we feel so very very blessed that she has entered our life…
I wont be home from hospital until Saturday morning our time.
So please meet
