I am trying my hardest to switch my 4 kitties from Purina Indoor Formula to Nutro Natural Choice Weight Management. At first, when I put the Nutro into their bowls, they LOVED it. The next day, they wouldn't touch it---just kept crying for food. I finally broke down and gave them some of the Purina Indoor formula b/c they were hungry and I felt bad. Does anyone have any advice about switching foods? Should I give up on the Nutro and try another? or keep trying to get them to eat it?

I took me a bit to switch my guys from Purina one to Nutro - about 1.5-2 months. I put two bowls down for the first few weeks, and then a big bowl of half and half. Now they prefer the Nutro - I will stop putting the Purina down when I run out.

Whenever I switch my four cat's food I mix the old with the new (50-50) for at least a month. I read an article once that said cats can get hooked on a particular size and shape of kibble. I think that may be why a lot of cats turn their nose up at new foods. My cats ate Purina One for years. I had tried several times to switch them to a better food, but they refused. I finally tried Natural Balance (which is very similar in size and shape to Purina One). That was the first super premium food that they would actually eat. I had tried Felidae, Wellness and Eagle Pack Holistic prior to that (with no luck). I recently bought them a small bag of Innova Light to try. I was a little worried at first that they wouldn't eat it, because it's a "star" shaped kibble (instead of the small round kibbles they're used to). I mixed it 50-50 with their old food and they've been eating it with no problems. I still have quite a bit of their old food left, so it will probably be a while before they're eating just Innova.

My intial switch to Nutro was over 3 weeks .... try for a month then maybe try another... remember there is no digest aka flavoring just the natural in the Nutro it does take some time
