I bought a new car last weekend - a Toyota Matrix. It's basically the same as a Pontiac Vibe if you've seen those. I wanted better gas mileage, was tired of having to buy premium gas for my old one (at 20 cents more a gallon than regular unleaded), wanted more interior room to lug stuff, and wanted one that I could take the dogs around without fear of them ruining the leather interior. And call me weird, but I always sort of cringed when I transported feral cats in the Volvo - even with the plastic and blankets, I was always afraid that they would spray inside that car. Now I have plastic interior in the back of the car that can wipe clean in a minute.
It is an adjustment for me to part with my overly plush Volvo S80 - it had just about every bit of luxery you ever wanted in a car, but it was hitting an age where the resale value was about to drop. No more butt warmers in the winter, no stereo controls on the steering wheel, no soft leather, no climate control, no cushy ride, but somehow I feel like I've come home with the Toyota. I've gone from plush to practical.
Here's my new Toy:
My old car is listed on cars.com - hope I can make a quick sale on it.
