I went to my FIL's house to drop of my son tonite and one of my SILs was there-- she was telling me about a solid black tiny kitten at the local bar she frequents that is getting abused severly by the patrons of the bar. She said that they are just out right mean to the kitten-- she says the kitten cant be more than 8 weeks old and she says he is veyr very tiny-- she told me she fed him several cups of milk ( i know bad) and some pieces of turkey from a sandwich the other nite-- It seems the kit has been hanging around for about a week or so and that the other nite some of the guys played football with the kitten-- I cant go tonite to see about him as my daughter ( 18 months) is too exhausted and i have no one to keep her-- I am going to venture out there in the morning to see if i can find the kitten and possibly trap it. My SIL told me that the kitten will not come near people yet later in our conversation she said that she had the kitten laying on its back rubbing its tummy the other nite--

I have a carrier i can put the kit in and a larger dog crate that i can accomodate the kitten in but i have no where but outside on our front porch to put the crate to prevent PB ( our 5 mo old kitten) coming into contact with this kitten--

If i can catch the kitten im taking it to the vet asap monday morning for a full checkup-- this will be my first feral trapping/catching venture!

wish me luck! i just cant let those drunks kill that kitten for no reason like that.

Best of luck! Take some turkey with you, to entice the kitty. And look around to see if there is more than one kitten.

I agree with keeping this baby outside in a crate until he can be tested to see if he carries any illness. Will you foster the kitten or do you plan to keep it?

Good luck!!! Thanks for caring!!! If it turns out you cannot catch this kitten using a carrier...then I would contact the local humane society about borrowing a trap.

im HOPING to be able to keep it. Gonna have to see what it looks like health wise first-- PB is Felv neg and even though i had a FELV Positive cat for 13 years i dont know if i can deal with all the problems that may occur due the a FELV positive cat-- but we will see hopefully monday

Speck, my FELV + cat, was sick just abotu the entire time she was alive-- constantly getting sick with various colds and flus-- It was heartbreaking but she was never in pain per se and always seemed to recover for a couple of weeks before coming down with something else-- She was always in good spirits and never weak until right at the end-- The vets she saw were amazed she lived so long--

It's so nice of you to do this, let us know how it turns out! I'm crossing my fingers for FELV negative as well.

Good luck with getting her! Guys in bars - I am always amazed at what a combination of machoism and alcohol can do.

well its not a very young kitten like i thought-- the way my SIL described her to me it sounded like a 6-8 week old kitten. Shes about 4-5 months old and very veyr skinny-- i was able to pet her and gave her some food and went to wally world and got some more larger cans for her-- i was able to pet her but she was very wary of me-- didnt like me touching her ( i cant understand why! ARGGHH some idiot men!) It may be a week or so of me feeding her to get her a bit more friendly and thats if the bar patrons dont kill her or play football with her again. She gobbled down the food i took her so i bought her some and some small paper plates. Shes solid black with a very few scattered white/silver hairs on her neck- Didnt see any other cats-- Its a well traveled road but she seems to have a home made in the junk pile at the edge of the woods--

She only hissed at me once and was ok with me sitting on the ground next to her while she was eating-- just very timid- It will take time but i think in a week or so ill have her caught--( i dont know her sex but she is very very feminie looking ( i know that doenst mean anything) so thats why im calling it a her.)

Wish me continued luck!

Good luck with her - it is not surprising she is wary - you are probably the first good thing that has happened to her.

Thank you for taking the time to go and check on this kitten and for all you are doing to help her. I hope she warms up to you quickly so you can remove her from that situation. Good luck!!

Well, I'm glad she would eat for you. Poor little skinny thing! Best of luck in catching her-be sure to use a top loading carrier or tip your carrier up on end to drop her in from the top. Maybe start taking the carrier with to sit next to her so she won't be frightened of it.

If she is tame enough to let you pet her, and that hungry...my hope is that you will have her soon. Prayers that she can recover from the abuse enough to enjoy petting some day. If not, I'm sure she will grow very affectionate towards you for saving her!

I am planning on going out every morning and feeding her before i head off to work-- I MIGHT could do an afternoon feeding-- would one or two feedings be better-- I cant guarantee that i could do the afternoon feeding everyday but can almost totally guarantee weekdays and probably saturday and sunday mornings-- the place where she is living is a makeshift flea market on fridays and saturdays but i havent really paid attention to how often people are there-- The bar is right next door to this--

Good luck saving this poor baby! My heart sank when I read your initial post about the treatment she is enduring from those "so-called" men.

i just got back from burying ms kitty. I went to feed her this morning and was hoping to be able to take her home tonite because yesterday she was letting me pick her up and cuddle her.

No such luck. Some idiot im assuming at the bar killed her. I looked all around and called her and no ms kitty. Got in my jeep and drove to the back of the bar and found her impaled on a sharpened stick. She had been beaten as well.

I am so sick that anyone could do this to a poor defensless kitten.

I am sure god will give them their dues when their time comes.

Thats about all i can hope for.

RIP ms kitty

Please call animal control and see if they can become involved in this. A criminal act killed that kitten, and the person who did it should be charged.

Poor little baby, rest in peace little one!
